Job summary

Hydrasun is seeking a commercially minded Proposal Engineer to join our Glasgow team, supporting the growth of our System Build business through the development of technical and commercial proposals for complex panel builds and modular assemblies.

You will work closely with customers, suppliers and internal teams to deliver technically robust and commercially competitive solutions from enquiry through to delivery, ensuring alignment with project milestones and delivery commitments.

Qualifications

• Essential: Degree or equivalent in Electrical/Mechanical engineering or related field.
• Essential: Experience with complex panel builds and modular assemblies.
• Essential: Strong commercial and tendering knowledge and ability to interpret drawings/specifications.
• Essential: Collaborative with customers, suppliers and multidisciplinary teams.
• Essential: Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Support Sales during opportunity development and tender activities.
• Review enquiries, drawings and commercial requirements.
• Prepare technical and commercial proposals for panel build and modular projects.
• Produce accurate cost estimates, delivery schedules and resource plans.
• Work with Engineering, Operations and Supply Chain to ensure feasibility and delivery.
• Manage supplier and subcontractor relationships for pricing and delivery.
• Create and maintain BoMs, routings and stock codes in Syspro.
• Manage project risks, milestones and customer expectations.

Hydrasun is seeking a commercially minded Proposal Engineer to join our Glasgow team, supporting the growth of our System Build business through the development of technical and commercial proposals for complex panel builds and modular assemblies.

This is a role that sits at the heart of project success, combining engineering knowledge, commercial awareness and customer engagement. You'll work closely with customers, suppliers, engineering teams and operational departments to develop solutions that are technically robust, commercially competitive and deliverable.

What You'll Be Doing

• Supporting the Sales team during opportunity development and tendering activities.
• Reviewing customer enquiries, specifications, drawings and commercial requirements.
• Preparing technical and commercial proposals for panel build and modular assembly projects.
• Producing accurate cost estimates, delivery schedules and resource plans.
• Working with Engineering, Operations and Supply Chain teams to ensure technical feasibility and delivery commitments can be achieved.
• Managing supplier and subcontractor relationships to secure competitive pricing and delivery performance.
• Creating and maintaining Bills of Materials (BoMs), routings and stock codes within Syspro.
• Managing project risks, milestones and customer expectations throughout project execution.
• Monitoring project progress and providing updates to internal and external stakeholders.
• Supporting project delivery through manufacture, commissioning, handover and closeout.
• Collaborating with Engineering teams in Aberdeen and Glasgow to develop efficient and commercially viable solutions.

What You'll Bring

Essential

• HNC, HND or Degree in Electrical, Mechanical or related Engineering discipline, or significant relevant industry experience.
• Experience working with complex panel builds and modular assemblies.
• Strong commercial and tendering knowledge.
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Experience working collaboratively with customers, suppliers and multidisciplinary teams.
• Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities.

Desirable

• Experience within the oil & gas, petrochemical, power generation or renewable energy sectors.
• Full project lifecycle experience from concept through to commissioning and handover.
• Experience leading or coordinating cross-functional project teams.
• Knowledge of Syspro ERP systems.
• Manufacturing or system build industry experience.
