Job summary

Mitchells & Butlers – Property in Birmingham is offering a 12-month paid Undergraduate Placement in Building Maintenance and Building Development. The programme starts October 2027 and there are two places available, with applications open for either rotation.

You will work within our in-house Property department, gaining exposure across functions, supported by a tailored development plan and ongoing coaching.

Qualifications

• The programme is open to all penultimate year undergraduate students from a RICS or CIOB approved Building Surveying, Quantity Surveying or Construction Management degree.
• You’ll be on track to achieve at least a 2:1 degree and be able to show a review of your first-year grades.
• You’ll have achieved ABB grades at A level or above (or equivalent grades).
• Hold a full and valid UK driver’s licence.

Responsibilities

• Gain real insight into the professional environment of building and estate management in our in-house Property department in Birmingham.
• Personalised programme caters to development needs with exposure to each function in the Property department.
• Work on fast paced and high value projects that will refine technical skills.
• Apply knowledge through surveys and projects to enhance your skill set.
• Potential to progress into the M&B Buildings, Estate and Property Management graduate scheme.

Our paid 12-month placement is designed to give you a real insight into the professional environment of building and estate management supporting the hospitality sector, here at our in-house Property department in Birmingham City Centre. We’ll make sure your personalised programme caters to your development needs and gives you as much exposure to each function in our Property department as possible.
