Job summary

Mitchells & Butlers is recruiting for its HR Graduate Scheme in the UK. The 12-month programme offers hands-on experience across HR teams, with rotations across brands and functions, including recruitment, learning and development, and operations.

Starting salary is £30,000 with a comprehensive benefits package. The scheme combines structured development workshops, mentoring, and exposure to different parts of the business, preparing you to become a future HR leader.

Entry Criteria - To apply you'll need:

• To have achieved, or be on track to achieve, at least a 2:1 degree.
• ABB at A Level (or equivalent qualifications).
• A full UK driving licence.
• Flexibility to travel across the UK (placement dependant), with a regular requirement to attend our Retail Support Centre in Birmingham. Applicants must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the Birmingham office to be able to attend regularly as required. Relocation will be considered, though applicants must be committed to this.

HR Graduate Scheme Overview

Our 12-month graduate programme is designed to fast‑track your development into your first HR role.

You’ll gain experience across several specialist HR teams, building broad commercial knowledge while developing the skills and confidence needed to become a future HR leader.

Every placement has real purpose. You’ll contribute to meaningful projects, work alongside experienced HR professionals and gain exposure to different parts of our business.

Your placements include:

• Pub, Bar or Restaurant placement (Weeks 2–3)
• Two‑month Brand Project placement (Months 2–3)
• Three‑month New Openings Training placement (Months 4–6)
• Three‑month Recruitment placement (Months 7–9)
• Three‑month Learning & Development placement (Months 10–12)

This variety is one of the things that makes our scheme unique. You'll experience multiple brands, different business functions and a breadth of opportunities that few graduate schemes can offer.
