Job summary

Mears Group in Newcastle is seeking a skilled General Operative for the Repairs and Maintenance team. The role involves lone working in occupied and void properties, performing general maintenance tasks and property inspections to high standards.

You will handle light fixtures, blinds, silicone work and door security while ensuring safety checks such as smoke alarms are completed. The ideal candidate has basic DIY skills, customer service experience, IT literacy and holds a UK driving license;

Qualifications

• Basic DIY skills including ability to re plumb a washing machine, putting up blinds, refixing door handles and siliconing a bath
• Customer service experience
• IT literate
• Good communication and customer service skills where required
• Ability to provide own hand tools including spirit level, screw drivers and hammers
• Full UK driving license
• Reliable
• Excellent time keeping
• Can do attitude
• Happy to travel across the region

Responsibilities

• Carry out property inspections and a wide range of general maintenance and repair tasks
• Change light bulbs, fit and adjust blinds, apply silicone, secure doors and complete minor repairs
• Check smoke alarms as part of routine property inspections and follow a structured checklist to meet required standards
