Job summary

Cherwell District Council is seeking a motivated Buildings and Projects Officer to manage a portfolio of repair, maintenance and capital projects at Castle Quay, Banbury. This full-time role offers hands-on experience across project management, building surveying and property delivery, with agile working supported.

You will deliver minor capital works, manage budgets and procure contractors, while collaborating with stakeholders to deliver district-wide improvements and decarbonisation

Qualifications

• A degree in a property, construction, engineering or related discipline, or equivalent relevant experience.
• Experience delivering property, maintenance or construction-related projects.
• Strong organisational and project management skills.
• Ability to build effective relationships with colleagues, contractors and stakeholders.
• Proactive attitude, good problem-solving skills and a desire to learn and develop.

Responsibilities

• Delivering minor capital projects, planned maintenance works and property improvements.
• Managing project budgets, programmes, risks and performance.
• Procuring and managing contractors, consultants and professional advisers.
• Working with stakeholders across the Council to develop and deliver projects.
• Supporting the delivery of larger capital projects across the Council's estate.
• Helping to improve and decarbonise our buildings as we work towards our carbon reduction ambitions.
