Job summary

Mears Group is seeking a reliable General Operative to join our team in the Newcastle/Sunderland/Gateshead area. You will perform repairs, maintenance and refurbishment on housing properties, both occupied and void, with a focus on safety, quality workmanship and timely delivery.

You will use company equipment responsibly, work within budgets, and contribute to a positive service experience for all users. Excellent customer service and clear communication are essential in this role.

Qualifications

• Experience in a similar role.
• Experience working in social housing and planned works.
• Full UK driving license.

Responsibilities

• Carry out property inspections.
• Complete general repairs, maintenance and refurbishment works to a high standard and on schedule.
• Check smoke alarms during inspections.
• Meet landlords onsite to gain access.
• Take ownership of tasks to achieve first-time completion within budget and time constraints.
• Deliver excellent customer service with professionalism in all interactions.
• Record all work electronically using a handheld device (PDA).
• Maintain company assets, including vehicles and equipment.
