Location: South Parks Road, Oxford OX1 3UB

Salary: £34,982 - £40,855 per annum

Contract: Full Time, Permanent

About Us

Spanning the historic streets of the "city of dreaming spires," the University of Oxford has been ranked the world's leading university for nine consecutive years. A place where centuries of tradition meet world-changing innovation, we offer you the chance to shape the future while working in an inspiring environment that promotes excellence. Here, you'll contribute to ground-breaking research that tackles global challenges - from advancing sustainability to pioneering healthcare solutions - and join a diverse, inclusive community that champions your wellbeing, development, and aspirations. Apply now to become part of our extraordinary legacy.

The Direct Labour Organisation (DLO) within Estates Services is responsible for the repair and maintenance of Oxford University's diverse estate. Our skilled, multidisciplinary team keeps everything running - from historic listed buildings to pioneering new facilities like the Life and Mind Building, and the Stephen A. Schwarzman Centre for the Humanities, two landmark developments designed to shape the future of science, culture, and education on a global scale.

What We Offer

Working at the University of Oxford offers several exclusive benefits, such as:
  • 38 days of annual leave (inclusive of public holidays) to support your wellbeing, with the option to purchase up to 10 extra days and additional leave after long service.
  • One of the most generous family leave schemes in UK higher education, offering up to 26 weeks of full-pay maternity and adoption leave, plus 12 weeks of full-pay paternity/partner leave.
  • An excellent contributory pension scheme.
  • Affordable and sustainable commuting options, including a cycle loan scheme, discounted bus travel, and season ticket loans.
  • Access to a vibrant community through our social, cultural, and sports clubs.
About the Role

As a Property Maintenance Engineer with a focus on carpentry and building fabric, you'll carry out a wide range of repair and maintenance tasks - from fault-finding to fire door maintenance - helping to preserve historic buildings and ensure modern facilities run smoothly. Working both independently and with colleagues across the Estates teams, you'll plan and prioritise tasks, respond to urgent issues, and help identify opportunities to improve building performance.

You'll work closely with Building Managers and sustainability experts, ensuring that all work is completed to the highest safety standards. You'll also have the chance to support apprentices, engage with capital project teams during handovers, and contribute to long-term strategic planning for building maintenance.
