Job summary

Home Group Limited in Barkham, Berkshire seeks a Property Inspector to help keep homes safe and well-maintained. You will carry out pre- and post-inspections, coordinate with surveyors and contractors, and ensure works meet quality, safety and compliance standards.

With an ONC in construction or NVQ Level 3, driving licence, and strong literacy, numeracy and IT skills, you will review works, report findings, and support continuous improvement.

Qualifications

  • ONC in construction or NVQ Level 3 trade qualification and relevant construction experience.
  • Experience inspecting homes and giving clear, confident advice.
  • Good literacy, numeracy and IT skills to record and report findings.
  • Knowledge of building and planning rules and the Decent Homes Standard.
  • Full UK driving licence with confidence using access equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out pre and post inspections to ensure works are delivered to the required quality, compliance and safety standards.
  • Liaise closely with surveyors, contractors and internal teams to coordinate works, resolve issues and maintain programme delivery.
  • Undertake health and safety inspections, identifying risks and ensuring contractors comply with statutory, regulatory and company requirements.
  • Review completed works, challenge poor workmanship where required, and drive timely resolution of defects and outstanding items.
  • Provide clear inspection findings and technical advice to support effective decision making, continuous improvement and customer satisfaction.
  • Monitor contractor performance on site, ensuring works are completed safely, efficiently and in line with agreed specifications and standards.

About the role

Salary circa £40,000 per annum plus 34 days leave and matching pension contribution up to 7%. Home, a place where you belong.

You will help people feel safe and comfortable in their homes by spotting problems early and putting things right fast. Your inspections will make a real difference to community safety and housing quality. You will be trusted to use your judgement and supported by a skilled team who value your ideas.

You have
  • A minimum ONC in construction (or equivalent such as NVQ Level 3 trade qualification) and relevant experience in a construction-related field, with sound technical and property repairs knowledge.
  • Experience inspecting homes and giving clear, confident advice.
  • Good literacy, numeracy and IT skills to record and report findings well.
  • Knowledge of building and planning rules and the Decent Homes Standard.
  • A full UK driving licence and confidence using access equipment.

  • You need a vehicle insured for business use, and we pay your mileage.

  • Ideally located in West of London, enabling travel across and support for multiple patches within the region.
  • You’ll work core hours between 9:00am and 5:00pm with flexibility built in.
