Avencia Consulting is recruiting on behalf of a leading specialty Reinsurer that is expanding its Property team. They are seeking an Assistant Underwriter with experience in D&F Property.

The role

Reporting to the Underwriter, the primary responsibility is to assist in underwriting a portfolio of (re)insurance business. This involves analyzing and maintaining the accuracy of all (re)insurance data and records to ensure proper management and protection of interests.

Key accountabilities

1. Participate in the underwriting process, including daily calls, evaluating submissions, analyzing exposures, and determining coverage and contract language.
2. Contribute to underwriting reports.
3. Assist with risk modeling and pricing tools.
4. Attend underwriting meetings as needed.
5. Build and maintain relationships with brokers.
6. Collaborate with other departments to exchange information.
7. Stay updated on market developments, relevant classes of business, and regulatory changes.
8. Ensure the accuracy and integrity of underwriting data in systems.
9. Adhere to underwriting procedures and controls, reporting any issues that could impact the firm's reputation or financial health.
10. Follow up on outstanding premiums.
11. Assist in preparing and issuing quotes, binders, and policies promptly.
12. Expand the portfolio through existing and new client relationships, including visits and conferences.
13. Ensure compliance with internal and external regulations, liaising with brokers, clients, auditors, and regulators as needed.

Skills & experience

1. University degree or equivalent insurance qualification (e.g., ACII, CPCU).
