Role Description

There is an exciting opportunity to join our successful Property & Casualty team as an Existing Business Underwriter, based in Maidstone. As an integral member of the team your focus will be on profitable growth and technical excellence in building a World class service. With ambitious growth targets for 2025 and beyond you will be a key team player helping us to reach our goals.

You must be able to proactively build long-term, sustainable business relationships in order to engender customer loyalty and achieve profitable growth in line with our ambition. Demonstrating consistently high standards of behaviour across all elements of the role, you will assist in supporting the national strategic objectives within the Region.

You'll participate in the Global P&C Academy accreditation, enhancing your skills in underwriting, risk engineering, pricing, and claims management while exchanging best practices across the Allianz Group. Furthermore, for pricing-based roles, Allianz Insurance offers a generous study package to enable the actuarial qualification to be obtained through the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries in the UK.

Additionally, we host Lunch and Learn sessions on key business topics hosted by experts across the team and monthly insight sessions, including the Data Science Forum and analyst forum, to refine your technical skills.

Salary Information

Pay: Circa £30,500 per year.

Pay is based on relevant experience, skills for the role, and location. Salary is only one part of our total reward package.

About You

As a Property and Casualty Underwriter your responsibilities will include;

  • Developing broker relationships (including regular broker visits) and collaborating with your colleagues in other departments to support our ambitious growth plans.
  • Underwriting renewal business
  • Negotiating within authority and referring where appropriate to maximise customer growth including persuading, influencing and convincing customers of the benefits of an opposed course of action.
  • Provide suggestions to continuously improve the business in an ever-changing environment
  • Support the wider teams by being proactive, enthusiastic and by challenging yourself to go out of your comfort zone

To be successful in this role you will need;

  • Property, Casualty and speciality lines market/product awareness
  • Strong technical underwriting skills in Commercial Property and Casualty.
  • The ability to build, develop and maintain positive broker relationships.
  • A good team player, supportive to others with an enthusiastic and positive attitude
  • Good influencing and negotiation skills.
  • Strong capability for team working.
  • Self-motivated and able to work on own initiative
  • Strong trading skills
