Job summary

Upfront Recruitment is seeking a Projects Manager – Shopfitting & Interior Fit Out in Wakefield. You will lead fit-out projects across the UK, from award to handover, ensuring on-time delivery, budget discipline and quality for recognisable brands.

This is a real, hands-on role in a small, steady business with a strong project pipeline and regular site presence. You will travel nationwide (Scotland to Southampton) and enjoy a competitive salary (£50k-£55k), car allowance and mileage

Qualifications

• Experience as Project/Contracts Manager in shopfitting or interior fit out.
• Client-facing with ability to assert decisions when needed.
• Commercially aware of costs, programmes and profitability.
• Natural leader who motivates teams and leads from the front.
• Hands-on, flexible with a can-do attitude.
• Based within commuting distance of Wakefield and holds a full UK driving licence.
• Willingness to travel nationwide as required.

Projects Manager – Shopfitting & Interior Fit Out

Wakefield, West Yorkshire (office-based, with UK-wide site travel)

£50,000 - £55,000 per year + car allowance (to be discussed) + mileage reimbursed

The role

They deliver retail, restaurant, bar, leisure, commercial and education projects across the UK and EU for recognisable brands.

They're a small business with a steady, healthy pipeline of work, and they need a Projects Manager to take ownership of it and keep it running smoothly. You'll run projects from the moment they're won to handover. Values range from £50k to over £1m, and programmes typically last 4 to 10 weeks (occasionally up to 12).

What makes this job different

This isn't a desk job with the occasional site visit. They want someone who is in the office regularly, out on site often, and visible to the people doing the work. Sites are nationwide, from Scotland and Newcastle down to Southampton and everywhere in between. You'll be the person who checks in on every one of them, so you need to be local, happy to travel, and comfortable with a lot of road time. That's why a car allowance and mileage reimbursement are on offer.

They also want a Projects Manager who makes a difference when they walk through the door. When a job is behind, you'll roll your sleeves up and help get it back on track. The team on site should be glad to see you arrive, not dread it. In a business this size, nobody is nailed to a job description. If a delivery needs unloading or an extra pair of hands is needed, you'll help out.

What you'll do

About you

• Proven experience as a Project Manager or Contracts Manager in shopfitting, interior fit out, joinery or construction or ability to step up.
• Confident dealing with clients, and able to say "no" or "not like that" when it's the right call. Client-facing, but not a yes man
• Commercially aware, with a good understanding of costs, programmes and what makes a project profitable
• A natural motivator and a team player who leads from the front
• Practical, hands-on and flexible, with a "whatever it takes" attitude
• Based within commuting distance of Wakefield, with a full UK driving licence
• Happy to travel nationwide as projects require
