Hydraulic Project Engineer
Egham-based | Hands-on engineering | Customer-site commissioning | Varied, high-value projects
We're looking for a practical, confident Hydraulic Project Engineer to take ownership of varied customer projects from build and test through to installation, commissioning and handover.
You'll work on low-volume, high-value hydraulic systems and sub-systems, combining hands-on engineering with project coordination, problem solving and direct customer support. If you enjoy seeing complex engineering projects through from the factory floor to a successful site installation, this is a strong opportunity to do varied, rewarding work.
The role
- Coordinate engineering design, manufacture, installation, commissioning and documentation to keep customer projects on track, on budget and aligned to specification.
- Lead project implementation in-house and on customer sites, including international installations where required.
- Set up, test, calibrate and fault-find hydraulic systems before delivery and during commissioning.
- Work closely with internal teams to resolve issues, maintain schedules and report progress.
- Prepare and manage documentation, including risk assessments, safe systems of work and calibration certificates.
- Ensure projects meet relevant quality, machinery and health and safety requirements.
- Provide maintenance, service and technical support to customers when needed.
What we're looking for
- At least 3 years' experience working with hydraulics in a manufacturing environment, ideally with low-volume, high-value systems.
- A strong all-round engineering background across mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, electronic and servo-control disciplines.
- Hands-on confidence with system setup, testing, calibration and fault finding.
- Experience with control systems; knowledge of industrial automation, real-time systems or similar technologies would be an advantage.
- Comfortable working directly with customers and travelling for site installations.
- HND, degree or equivalent experience in an engineering discipline; practical experience is especially valued.
Why join us?
- Work on varied customer projects, from specialist sub-components to complete hydraulic systems.
- Combine hands-on engineering with project ownership and customer-facing commissioning.
- Be part of a practical, skilled team delivering complex, bespoke engineering solutions.
- Receive training on our in-house operational software and project processes.
Location
The role is primarily office and factory based at our production facility in Egham, with travel required for customer installations and commissioning.
