Job summary

Malvern Hills and Wychavon District Councils are seeking two Engineering Assistants – Projects to help turn plans into practical results. The role offers a starting salary of £29,542 to £36,581 per annum, with a 37-hour week on a permanent contract.

You will use Leica surveying equipment and AutoCAD to design and tender projects, overseeing delivery on site. Excellent communication and teamwork are essential, with opportunities to develop in civil engineering within the Council.

Qualifications

• Experience in a design office or technical environment.
• Experience interpreting technical and topographical survey drawings.
• BTEC HNC in Civil Engineering is essential for Grade 7; desirable for Grade 6.
• GCSEs in Maths and English, or equivalent qualifications.
• Willingness to undertake training in surveying equipment, AutoCAD and 4x4 driving.
• Ability to deliver projects on time and within budget.

Responsibilities

• Prepare tender documents, bills of quantities and contract documentation for medium-value projects up to £100,000, and support documentation for higher-value contracts.
• Help supervise construction contracts, including valuations, final measurements and accounts.
• Prepare technical reports and feasibility studies, and provide technical advice to Council colleagues.
• Work with AutoCAD and surveying technology, and support the maintenance, updating and calibration of technical equipment.
• Work with colleagues, contractors and external clients or designers to help deliver projects on time and within budget.
