Job summary

Attega Group Ltd invites applications for an Assistant Civil Engineer to join a growing civil engineering and transport planning consultancy. The role focuses on supporting drainage, highway design and S278/S38 schemes, while contributing to client communications and project packages.

You will work within a design team, producing consistent technical drawings and supporting senior staff on delivery, budgets and quality improvements. ICE accreditation progress is encouraged.

Qualifications

• HND, BEng, MEng or MSc in Civil Engineering.
• At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
• Experience in civil engineering consultancy.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Site 3D (or equivalent 3D design software).
• Willingness to learn new systems and pursue ICE accreditation.

Assistant Civil Engineer

Salary: Up to £38,000

Location: Cambrigdeshire

Contract: Full Time, Permanent

Attega are hiring for an Assistant Civil Engineer to join a growing civil engineering and transport planning consultancy.

This is an exciting opportunity for an Assistant Civil Engineer to support an expanding civil engineering team, working on a diverse range of complex schemes for developers, local authorities and architects.

The Role:

• Work within a civil engineering design team responsible for drainage systems, highway layouts and S278/S38 schemes.
• Undertake civil engineering design work under supervision, including drainage systems in accordance with relevant standards, Building Regulations and the SuDS Manual.
• Assist with the design of on-site and off-site highway features in line with applicable standards, including the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges and Manual for Streets.
• Act as a point of contact for clients on designated aspects of projects.
• Produce consistent, high-quality technical drawings and design packages.
• Support senior team members with project delivery and the completion of engineering work.
• Work closely with developers, architects, local authorities and other project stakeholders.
• Assist with project budgets, monitor costs and contribute to quality improvements.
• Identify design risks and consider health, safety, welfare and environmental impacts throughout the design process.
• Support business development activities, including identifying opportunities, preparing marketing materials and attending networking events.
• Maintain professional development and work towards ICE professional accreditation.

Requirements:

• HND, BEng, MEng or MSc in Civil Engineering.
• At least 2 years’ experience in a similar role.
• Experience working within a civil engineering consultancy.
• Experience working with local authorities, developers and architects on a range of civil engineering schemes.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Site 3D, or equivalent 3D design software.
• Knowledge of relevant drainage, highway design standards and engineering software, with a willingness to learn new systems.
• Working towards ICE professional accreditation.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, clients and suppliers.
• Good organisational skills, with the ability to plan workloads, manage priorities and work calmly under pressure.
• An understanding of health and safety legislation, sustainable development and safe systems of work.
• A professional, proactive approach, with strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality work.
