Job summary

National Grid is seeking a Project Supervisor to act as the site representative for the EGL2 project, providing independent assurance that works are delivered safely and in line with contract requirements. The role requires travel to the project site in Drax/Selby five days a week and involves monitoring contractor activities, quality assurance, and governance reviews.

Responsibilities

• Act as site representative, providing risk-based construction assurance and monitoring across allocated work fronts to ensure compliance with contractual, technical, quality, environmental, and statutory requirements.
• Monitor construction progress and contractor activities, identify risks and deviations, maintain assurance records and evidence.
• Lead quality assurance activities, review ITPs, Quality Plans, specifications, and construction documentation for right-first-time delivery.
• Witness inspections, testing, hold points, and key construction activities; identify defects and support corrective actions.
• Undertake NEC4/FIDIC Supervisor responsibilities; verify scope, designs, and maintain records for contract administration.
• Provide assurance that Principal Contractors properly manage CDM duties and SHES controls.
• Participate in site inspections, audits, leadership visits, and incident investigations; ensure corrective actions are embedded.
• Build relationships with project teams, contractors, designers, and commissioning teams; provide assurance advice and governance input.

We are recruiting for a Project Supervisor to support on our Eastern Green Link 2 (EGL2) project and be National Grid's site representative, providing risk-based assurance of construction activities across allocated work fronts. This role requires 5 days a week travel to the project site based in Drax, Selby, so you will need to live in a commutable distance. Job Purpose

To act as National Grid's Project Supervisor, providing independent assurance that construction works are delivered safely, compliantly and in accordance with contractual, technical and quality requirements. The role provides risk-based oversight of Principal Contractor activities through sensible monitoring, ensuring delivery aligns with National Grid standards, project specifications and statutory obligations.

What You'll Do

• Act as National Grid's site representative, providing risk-based construction assurance and sensible monitoring across allocated work fronts to ensure compliance with contractual, technical, quality, environmental, and statutory requirements.
• Monitor construction progress, site performance, and contractor activities, identifying emerging risks, opportunities, constraints, and deviations while maintaining accurate assurance records and evidence.
• Lead and deliver quality assurance activities, reviewing and verifying Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), Quality Plans, specifications, and construction documentation to ensure works are delivered right first time.
• Witness inspections, testing, hold points, and key construction activities, identifying defects or non-conformances and supporting the implementation and close-out of corrective actions.
• Undertake NEC4/FIDIC Supervisor responsibilities, including identifying and notifying defects, verifying compliance with project scope and approved designs, and maintaining records to support effective contract administration.
• Provide assurance that Principal Contractors are effectively managing their duties under CDM Regulations and maintaining robust Safety, Health, Environment and Sustainability (SHES) controls.
• Participate in site inspections, audits, leadership visits, and incident investigations, ensuring corrective and preventative actions are implemented and embedded.
• Build strong working relationships with project teams, contractors, designers, commissioning teams, and other stakeholders, providing construction assurance advice and contributing to project meetings and governance reviews.

About You

• Strong understanding of construction assurance, quality management, and construction safety principles, including CDM Regulations and Principal Contractor duties.
• Experience delivering, managing, or assuring major infrastructure, engineering, energy, or construction projects.
• Experience working within NEC4/FIDIC contract environments, including knowledge of Supervisor responsibilities.
• Proven ability to undertake site inspections, audits, quality assurance, and construction assurance activities.
• Experience reviewing contractor programmes, RAMS, ITPs, drawings, specifications, and quality documentation.
• Ability to identify, manage, and mitigate construction, quality, and safety risks within live project environments.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to positively influence contractors and project teams.
• Confident in challenging constructively, making sound decisions, and managing multiple priorities across complex workstreams.
• HNC/HND qualification (or equivalent experience) and minimum SMSTS or IOSH certification.

A competitive salary of £50,000 – £60,000 per annum, depending on capability. This role also comes with a job requirement car.
