Job summary

NRL in Leicester is seeking a Project Quality Control Engineer to support quality assurance across welded and machined components, supplier documentation and inspection activities within complex manufacturing projects.

This site-based role pays £55 per hour (Umbrella). Key duties include reviewing QCPs, weld schedules and NDT procedures, coordinating with internal and customer inspection teams, and ensuring ISO 9001 quality management and timely reporting.

Qualifications

• Weld inspection qualification required (CSWIP 3.2/3.1 or PCN Level 2 WI).
• Experience reviewing weld schedules/maps with procedures.
• Understanding of QC Plans and Inspection & Test Plans for welded and machined components.
• Experience working in a project environment with suppliers and documentation review.
• Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and NDT/inspection processes.

Responsibilities

• Liaise with customers to define QA, QC, and inspection expectations.
• Review and approve supplier quality documentation including QCPs, weld schedules, and NDT procedures.
• Attend supply chain kick-off meetings to clarify quality standards and documentation.
• Produce and assign inspection activities coordinating with internal and customer inspection teams.
• Carry out inspections including risk assessments and witnessing NDT or functional tests.
• Review and endorse supplier documentation throughout the project lifecycle (NDT reports, weld schedules, EC&I test docs).
• Ensure accurate recording and timely reporting of all inspection activities.
• Support Life Time Records and final release documentation.
• Advise project and supplier teams on quality control requirements and compliance risks.
