Siemens has opened its first UK Rail Industry Hub near Goole, East Yorkshire, initially assembling 80 trains for London’s Piccadilly line and recruiting over 300 skilled staff. With plans to scale production into the hundreds and add maintenance operations, Siemens demonstrates a strong commitment to regional growth and job creation.

We are now looking for an experienced Project Planning Manager to lead the planning activity for Siemens Manufacturing and Commissioning Testing (including System Integration Testing) activities on the Piccadilly Line Upgrade Programme. The role involves carrying out scheduling using the Primavera EPPM P6 Oracle project planning tool.

The successful candidate may be based in London with flexibility to travel to Goole Rail Village for workshops and meetings, or based in Goole with a willingness to travel to London for regular TfL meetings. Occasional travel to the RIDC Test Centre and Wildenrath Test Centre in Germany may also be required.

You’ll make an impact by

1. Cultivating strong, trust-based relationships with customers, suppliers, and key stakeholders to ensure seamless collaboration. Leveraging these partnerships to validate critical data and information, ensuring accuracy and alignment before initiating or updating project schedules.
2. Utilizing project management expertise to lead the program team in developing scenario planning and proactive mitigation strategies. Championing the creation of robust, flexible project plans that anticipate risks, optimize outcomes, and drive project success through adaptive leadership.
3. Developing comprehensive project schedules covering the entire project scope, focusing on manufacturing and commissioning.
4. Creating project/bid schedules aligned with tender and contractual documents, ensuring harmonization with internal stakeholders.
5. Managing interfaces and dependencies between project schedules, including the creation of what-if scenarios and baselines with stakeholder approval.
6. Monitoring and controlling scheduled tasks, regularly collecting feedback to update progress, and performing variance analyses against project baselines.
7. Identifying risks, delays, and mitigation measures early, ensuring effective risk management throughout project execution.
8. Generating project-specific reports, including Milestone Trend Analysis, S-Curves, and Customer Progress Reports.

Your success will be grounded by

1. Expertise in project planning, scheduling, and controlling methods, including network planning and Milestone Trend Analysis.
2. Proficiency in Primavera EPPM P6 or similar tools (e.g., MS Project) and knowledge of resource management methods.
3. Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with a structured approach to work.
4. Effective communication, moderation, and presentation abilities, with experience in collaborating across teams.
5. Self-motivated, capable of independent work, and adaptable to travel as project needs require.
6. Fluent in English; German language skills are a plus.
