Where will you be working?

At M Group Highways, we support the safe transportation and movement of people across the UK. We don’t just build roads and bridges — we’re building a better future and creating lasting social value that benefits the communities we serve.

You’ll join our Highways maintenance team, as the UK’s leading highway maintenance contractor, utilizing the latest innovations to develop effective solutions. Our services include planned and reactive maintenance, as well as highway improvement schemes.

Devon Highways, a contract secured by M Group in 2017 and operating until 2027, involves delivering a wide range of highways maintenance and improvement projects for Devon County Council.

What will you be doing?
  • Monitoring the Service Managers Works Ordering system and updating the Works Programmes accordingly.
  • Using the Annual Plan issued by the Service Manager to plan work, monitor progress, and produce a resource-optimized programme for the financial year.
  • Updating programming details as revised versions of the Annual Plan are issued.
  • Collaborating with delivery teams and supply chain partners to create and maintain accurate, up-to-date Works Programmes.
  • Managing Streetworks information (Noticing/Permitting/Licences) to support scheme delivery.
  • Coordinating works delivery with network stakeholders where opportunities arise.
  • Planning, monitoring, and reporting on delivery performance using tools like Asta Power Project and Power-BI Reports, including data analysis to enhance performance.
  • Maximising productivity through effective programming, liaising with QS and AQS, and ensuring financial control to reduce costs and improve efficiency.
  • Escalating programme delays to the Programme Manager and Area Manager to mitigate issues with timing or quality.
What You’ll Bring
  • Strong planning and programme management skills, with experience using programming tools.
  • Knowledge of scheduling and permitting processes aligned with the Code of Practice for Coordination of Street and Roadworks.
  • Experience with NRSWA and PowerBI for performance reporting.
  • Awareness of current issues in highway maintenance, including traffic management layouts per the Red Book.
  • Excellent relationship-building skills.
  • High energy and enthusiasm for performance improvement.
  • Ability to work under pressure, managing and prioritising tasks effectively.
