Job Introduction

Job Title: Project Officer / Support Worker - Young People Services

Salary: £25,407

Contract: Permanent

Location: Chester

Weekly Hours: 35hrs per week on a 3 weekly rota

So.... What is this role exactly?

This is a rewarding and interesting role at our Supported Housing scheme, Bridge Foyer to join the team as a Project Officer/Support Worker, within this collaborative and caring Young Peoples services team.

Bridge Foyer is a supported housing project for 31 young people aged 16-25 and offers them the opportunity to make progress in their lives, to build resilience and meet their aspirations.

As a Project Officer, you will play a key role in supporting residents to help them achieve their goals, develop independent living and life skills and build excellent relationships with residents, colleagues and professionals from external agencies.

Bridge Foyer is accredited with the Foyer Federation meaning we take an asset-based approach, called Advantaged Thinking, in all the work we do; encouraging young people experiencing homelessness to aim high, dream big and fulfil their ambitions.

We want to recruit a Project Officer or Support Worker as passionate about this as us.

What will my working week look like?

Our Project Officers in Young People Services work on a 3 weekly rolling rota -

Week A: 8am-4pm

Week B: 10am-6pm

Week C: 12pm-8pm

The role includes some element of lone working and scheme cover.

Every day is different; you could be delivering 1-2-1 support sessions on life skills, reviewing an action plan, supporting a young person to a medical appointment, contributing to a multi-agency meeting or facilitating group activities as part of the learning programme. Every day is different and diverse!

What will I be responsible for doing?

First and foremost, you will be providing key worker support to our young people. Working through bespoke support and action plans, tailored to their specific needs, to help them develop the life skills necessary to move on, live independently and thrive in the community.

One of the great things about this role is being able to bring your own personality to the role. Our young people come from a wide range of backgrounds, and we try to mirror that in our team.

And what would make me stand out from the crowd?

  • Have the ability to relate well to young and vulnerable people from a variety of backgrounds
  • Demonstrate empathy to young people, and be passionate about providing them with a safe, supportive and welcoming environment
  • Be resilient, flexible and enthusiastic
  • Be Innovative and creative in your ways of working
  • Be confident managing your own diary and caseload

This role is really suited to someone who enjoys a role that provides social value and purpose, keen to make a difference and positively impact Young People's lives. This role really does offer an opportunity to shape real change for the people you support!

Although you are based at Bridge Foyer you will also have access to Youggle House - our wellbeing, social, collaboration and meeting space in Birchwood, Warrington - you may be asked to travel to Youggle House to meet up with your wider team for meetings and training when required.

On top of this, we'll provide you with a great benefits package, including a contributory pension where we match whatever you choose to contribute (up to 8%), an advanced level Healthcare cash plan through Medicash, that doesn't just provide dental and optician cashback but also health and wellbeing benefits (such as 24/7 GP Access, money back from prescriptions and alternative therapy treatments) and an amazing discount scheme that gives you access to half price cinema tickets, subsidised gym memberships and a huge range of discounts with some of the biggest high street and online names.
