Project Officer Role - Environmental Guidance for CRSTS

We are seeking a Project Officer to join a 12-month task and finish group. This group will provide professional environmental advice and technical guidance to the City Region Sustainable Transport Settlement (CRSTS) programme, working across the Environment and Infrastructure Directorates.

Responsibilities

1. Contribute to the delivery of the work programme and produce high-quality outputs by the agreed deadlines.
2. Provide environmental requirements for legal, grant agreement, policy, project, and technical documents.
3. Offer technical expertise for CRSTS projects.
4. Define clear requirements for business case development, grant agreements, contracts, health and safety, budgeting, and forecasting.
5. Assess and appraise CRSTS projects to ensure environmental requirements are met.
6. Develop approaches for evaluating, monitoring, and auditing CRSTS projects concerning their environmental standards.
7. Implement continuous improvement practices, including capturing lessons learned.
8. Engage proactively with CRSTS project managers and internal/external stakeholders.
9. Escalate project risks promptly to the project manager.
10. Foster a positive team culture focused on improving environmental outcomes of infrastructure projects.
11. Manage project budgets, monitor environmental work costs, and ensure financial tracking.
12. Create and update project documentation, including timelines and risk registers, to ensure timely delivery.
13. Provide regular written and verbal updates to line managers and support briefings for senior leaders as needed.

Knowledge and Qualifications

1. Educated to degree level or with equivalent work experience.
2. Qualification in an environmental subject.
3. Knowledge of the wider climate and nature emergencies, including regional and local responses.
