Job description

Job Title: Project Officer Location: Shepton Mallet Working Hours: Monday to Friday / 9:00am-5:00pm Job type: Temporary to Permanent Salary: £32,578 (Rising up to £36,581 following probation) HRGO Recruitment are looking for an enthusiastic Project Officer to help turn our clients' ambitious plans into reality.

This is a varied role that will see you manage projects from initial ideas and consultation through to delivery and evaluation, working closely with councillors, staff, community groups and external stakeholders.

You will play an important role supporting projects that have a positive and lasting impact on the local community.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and manage project plans, including budgets, timelines, risks and KPIs.
  • Undertake research and community consultation to identify local needs.
  • Work collaboratively with councillors, community groups, volunteers and external partners.
  • Monitor project progress and provide clear reports and updates.
  • Support funding applications by gathering research and evidence.
  • Work with the Community Fundraiser to identify funding opportunities.
  • Coordinate external expertise, contractors and professional advisers where required.
  • Ensure projects are effectively communicated and supported by appropriate marketing.
  • Ensure environmental and sustainability considerations are incorporated into project delivery.
  • Attend occasional evening meetings and support the wider team when required.
Role Requirements
  • Degree-level education or equivalent, although relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Strong organisational and administrative skills.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage your own workload and prioritise competing tasks.
  • Confident working with different people and building positive relationships.
  • Previous experience in project coordination, administration or a similar role.
