Responsibilities

  • Lead the planning, execution, monitoring, and delivery of projects to scope, cost, quality, and schedule.
  • Support Business Development and Bid teams during contract negotiations by defining scope, KPIs, WBS, resource plans, and risks.
  • Manage project budgets, forecasts, and costs, ensuring financial targets are met.
  • Produce regular project reports with budget updates, schedules, milestones, and performance metrics for stakeholders.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for customers, managing communications and commercial aspects.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure contractual deliverables and documentation are completed on time.
  • Identify, assess, and manage project risks and issues, implementing mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with governance, processes, and regulatory standards.
  • Develop and improve project documentation, reporting templates, and delivery processes for continuous improvement.
  • Monitor priorities and resource requirements to support business objectives.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Project Manager to join our Project Management Office (PMO) and play a key role in delivering complex programmes and projects across our defence portfolio.

Working within a highly regulated environment, you will be responsible for leading projects from initiation through to successful delivery, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, customers, and stakeholders while maintaining strong governance, commercial awareness, and delivery discipline.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the planning, execution, monitoring, and delivery of projects to agreed scope, cost, quality, and schedule.
  • Support Business Development and Bid teams during contract negotiations by defining project scope, deliverables, KPIs, Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), resource plans, and project risks.
  • Manage project budgets, forecasts, and costs, ensuring financial targets are achieved.
  • Produce regular project reports, including budget updates, schedules, milestones, and performance metrics for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for customers, managing project communications and commercial aspects throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure contractual deliverables and documentation are completed accurately and on time.
  • Identify, assess, and manage project risks and issues, implementing effective mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with organisational processes, governance requirements, and relevant regulatory standards.
  • Develop and improve project documentation, reporting templates, and delivery processes to support continuous improvement.
  • Monitor project priorities and resource requirements to support business objectives.
About You

You'll be an organised and confident Project Manager with excellent communication skills and a proven ability to deliver complex projects in a structured environment.

You'll ideally have:

  • Demonstrable experience managing projects from initiation through to completion.
  • Strong knowledge of project planning, governance, risk management, and project controls.
  • Experience managing project budgets, forecasts, and financial reporting.
  • Excellent stakeholder and customer relationship management skills.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams.
  • A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
  • Experience within defence, aerospace, engineering, manufacturing, or another regulated industry would be advantageous.
  • A recognised project management qualification (such as PRINCE2, APM PMQ, or PMP) is desirable.
