Job summary

Evodia Limited is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead a Category A defence project from Hereford. You will drive acquisition strategies, manage procurement of equipment, and coordinate with stakeholders to ensure deliverables meet milestones and safety standards.

The role requires strong operations management experience, stock and contract control, and the ability to oversee complex weapons-related systems in service.

Qualifications

• Experience as a project manager is required.
• Submarine-related engineering/managerial experience preferred.
• Ability to grasp operations quickly and become productive.
• Experience supporting an operations manager.
• Significant experience in operations management.
• Knowledge of stock control and contract management; milestones and standards.
• Experience with weapons in service and related safety/regulatory context.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement an acquisition strategy aligned with Category A Approval requirements.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to define project objectives, scope, and deliverables.
• Oversee planning and execution of tactical development firing trials, ensuring safety and compliance.
• Manage procurement of equipment and services required for the project.
• Monitor and control project budgets, ensuring financial accountability and cost efficiency.
• Develop and maintain detailed project schedules and timelines.
• Collaborate with logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of equipment and resources.
• Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and safety standards.
• Conduct risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
• Manage contracts with suppliers, ensuring adherence to terms and performance standards.
• Facilitate communication between internal and external stakeholders.
• Oversee preparation and submission of documentation for Category A Approval.
• Monitor and report on project progress to senior management and stakeholders.
• Address and resolve issues or delays impacting project timelines.
• Ensure quality assurance and control measures are in place for all deliverables.
• Support development of training and operational procedures for end-users.
• Manage and track KPIs for the project.
• Coordinate with legal and procurement teams to ensure contract compliance.
• Oversee integration of new systems or equipment into existing infrastructure.
• Conduct post-trial evaluations and implement lessons learned for future projects.

OVERVIEW

There are 2 teams involved - one is an in-service support team, as that is where the expertise is. They provided detailed technical support to the other team.

Role will involve a bit of BAU as well as providing technical support.

Their biggest contract is a CAT A within the Defence team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

SKILLS & QUAIFICATIONS

Evidence of the following experience is required:

• Experienced Project Manager.
• Would suit someone who has been onboard submarines as an engineer, or a manager or a Class 1 officer.
• Needs to be able to grasp the operation quickly so they are up and running.
• Would support an operations manager.
• Needs to have a fair bit of experience in operations management
• Need to understand stock control, contract management, ensuring all milestones are met, standards being maintained, service surveillance.
• Operations centre around complex weapons. and Operations manager will need to look at how they support and manage those weapons in service.
