Job summary

elix Sourcing Solutions is seeking a Project Manager with a Quality Engineering background to lead high-security defense and nuclear projects from planning to delivery in a hybrid role in Corby, England.

You will supervise fabrication, QA, and document governance, coordinating cross-functional teams to ensure compliance, cost, and schedule targets are met.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering projects in highly regulated environments such as Defence, Nuclear or Aerospace.
• Strong quality planning, compliance, and procedural audits experience.
• Practical knowledge of heavy fabrication, welding, and assembly processes.
• Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related technical discipline; PM certs are a plus but not essential.
• Eligible for UK Security Clearance (SC) checks.

Responsibilities

• End-to-End Project Oversight: manage complex, high-security projects to delivery with cost, timeline and compliance.
• Bridge Office & Production Floor: supervise weld testing, NDT, and first-article inspections with fabrication teams.
• Document Control & Governance: own QA plans, manuals, and lifetime dossiers for tier-one clients.
• Continuous Improvement Leadership: lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions (5Why, 8D, Ishikawa).
• Subcontractor & Audit Management: assess suppliers to meet ISO9001 and ISO3834 standards.

Key Responsibilities

• End-to-End Project Oversight: Manage multiple complex, high-security projects through to final delivery, ensuring strict alignment with cost, timeline, and compliance metrics.
• Bridge Office & Production Floor:Coordinate closely with fabrication and assembly teams to supervise weld testing, NDT processes, and first-article inspections.
• Document Control & Governance: Take full ownership of technical compliance writing, compiling robust quality assurance plans, operational manuals, and lifetime record dossiers required by tier-one clients.
• Continuous Improvement Leadership: Spearhead root-cause analysis and corrective actions (utilizing 5Whys, 8D, and Ishikawa methodologies) to continuously elevate manufacturing and engineering standards.
• Subcontractor & Audit Management: Evaluate and monitor external suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring their outputs strictly adhere to rigorous quality frameworks (such as ISO9001 and ISO 3834)

What we are looking for:

• Regulated Industry Experience: A strong background delivering projects within highly regulated environments such as Defence, Military, Aerospace, or Nuclear industries.
• Quality & Project Hybrid Skills: Proven experience managing project lifecycles alongside a solid understanding of quality planning, compliance, and procedural audits.
• Technical Fabrication Knowledge: A practical, working understanding of heavy mechanical engineering, welding, fabrication, or assembly processes.
• Relevant Qualification: A degree or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related technical discipline (Project Management certifications like PRINCE2/APM are a plus but not essential).
• Security Clearance: Must be eligible and willing to undergo standard UK Security Clearance (SC) checks.
