The project:

Join our project management consultancy that operates across five global hubs, overseeing work for leading organizations in the public and private sectors. We are seeking a Mechanical Handling & Moorings Assistant Package Manager for a large infrastructure project in Plymouth. Mace is engaged as the Delivery Partner to Babcock for upgrading facilities within HMNB Devonport, supporting maintenance for nuclear submarines, including dock upgrades for the Astute programme. Your role will involve planning, directing, managing, and overseeing the Mechanical Handling and Mooring works, ensuring project goals are met within schedule, budget, and safety standards. Effective communication with clients, contractors, and stakeholders is essential.

Requirements:
  • Experience with engineering design processes.

  • Familiarity with procurement and NEC contracts.

  • Experience in marine or crane projects, ideally in regulated industries like nuclear, rail, or aviation.

  • Relevant engineering or marine qualifications (Degree, BTEC, HNC).

  • Certifications such as CSCS; nuclear and defense experience is a plus.

  • Understanding of crane standards and safety legislation (BS 7121, EN 13001, PUWER, LOLER, CDM 2015).

  • Membership in professional bodies (RICS, CIOB, APM, ICE) is desirable.

  • Strong communication, influencing, and organizational skills.

  • Knowledge of sustainability considerations in projects.
