Job summary

Ross-Shire Engineering Limited is seeking a Mechanical Project Manager to join our Asset Operations & Maintenance team at the Cumbernauld office on a full-time, permanent basis. You will lead a diverse portfolio of multi-discipline projects across water and power sectors, ensuring design and construction meet technical and safety standards.

Applicants should hold a mechanical engineering qualification (degree/HND/HNC).

Qualifications

  • Proven track record in Project Management.
  • Qualification to degree / HND/ HNC level in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Good time management and multi-tasking abilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a varied portfolio of MEICA projects from enquiry to final documentation.
  • Discuss requirements with clients and carry out site surveys as required.
  • Direct and manage Trade Operatives & Apprentices to ensure quality, productivity and safety.
  • Ensure availability of technical information for design/construction delivery.
  • Review drawings, specifications and schedules; prepare final As Built Documentation.
  • Identify and resolve non-conformances during design and construction.
  • Oversee design, procurement, estimates, quotations, and contract documentation.

What Are We Looking For?

Due to continued growth and success, our Asset Operations & Maintenance team is expanding, and we're looking for a Mechanical Project Manager to join us on a full-time, permanent basis at our Cumbernauld office.

Our O&M team delivers a diverse range of small to medium‑sized, multi‑discipline projects, covering the repair, replacement, design, and installation of equipment and plant systems across the Water and Power sectors. Beyond utilities, we also partner with clients in the Transport, Food & Beverage, and Oil & Gas industries throughout Scotland, including the Northern and Western Isles.

This is an excellent opportunity to lead a varied portfolio of projects, working alongside experienced engineering professionals to deliver innovative, high‑quality solutions. Key Duties of the Role
  • Project liaison from enquiry stage to final acceptance and documentation.
  • Meeting with clients to discuss specific requirements and carry out site surveys as required.
  • Instructing, directing, controlling, and allocating work to Trade Operatives & Apprentices, with attention to quality, productivity and safety.
  • Ensure all technical information is available when required for the delivery of design and/or construction.
  • Interpret and check drawings, specifications, and schedules for all activities and prepare final documentation (As Built Drawings etc.).
  • Early identification and resolution of non‑conformance within both the design and construction phase.
  • Manage the design of systems and products, ensuring alignment with design specifications and technical aspects.
  • Procurement of goods and services.
  • Preparation of estimates and quotations.
  • Completion of contract documents.
What Do You Need?
  • Qualification to degree / HND/ HNC level in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Proven track record in Project Management, with an engineering or supervisory background.
  • Good time management, with the ability to multitask, plan and organise day‑to‑day workloads within a busy environment.
  • Good communication skills in both verbal and written communication with an ability to follow, interpret and explain technical instructions.
  • Knowledge of the tools, equipment, and materials common to all engineering trades, particularly Mechanical Engineering.
  • Driven, with an ability to work individually and with teams under your direction.
  • Innovative thinking, with an ability to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.
  • Ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high‑pressure environment.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
