Job summary

Ross-Shire Engineering Limited is seeking an Instrument Pipefitter for our Muir of Ord facility on a permanent basis. You will fabricate, assemble, and install instrumentation and stainless steel pipework for water and wastewater plants. You will read P&IDs, work from drawings, and conduct tests to ensure quality and safety.

Qualifications

  • SVQ/NVQ qualification or industry experience in mechanical engineering, pipefitting or instrumentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and P&IDs.
  • Knowledge of process instrumentation, control systems and actuated valves.
  • Competent in using hand tools, tube benders, cutting equipment and measuring instruments.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.

Responsibilities

  • Install and connect instrumentation, including pressure, temperature, flow, level and analytical instruments, in line with engineering drawings and P&IDs.
  • Fabricate and install stainless steel small bore pipework and tubing, including measuring, cutting and bending.
  • Install pneumatic impulse lines and control tubing, including regulators, solenoid valves and valve positioners.
  • Build and assemble instrumentation and valve sample boards in accordance with drawings and BOMs.
  • Complete pressure, leak and pneumatic testing, instrument loop checks and fault identification.
  • Read and interpret P&IDs and drawings, reporting discrepancies or design issues.

What Are We Looking For?

Our Production team is looking for an Instrument Pipefitter to join our Muir of Ord facility on a permanent basis. You’ll work alongside an established team and be required to fabricate, assemble, and install instrumentation and small bore stainless steel pipework systems used within water and wastewater treatment plants.

Some of Your Key Duties Include:
  • Install and connect instrumentation, including pressure, temperature, flow, level and analytical instruments, in line with engineering drawings and P&IDs.
  • Fabricate and install stainless steel small bore pipework and tubing, including measuring, cutting, bending and assembly.
  • Install pneumatic impulse lines and control tubing, including regulators, solenoid valves and valve positioners.
  • Build and assemble instrumentation and valve sample boards in accordance with engineering drawings and bills of materials.
  • Complete pressure, leak and pneumatic testing, as well as instrument loop checks, functional testing and fault identification.
  • Read and interpret P&IDs, fabrication drawings, general arrangement drawings and instrument schedules, reporting any discrepancies or design issues.
  • Maintain compliance with company, project and client health, safety, quality and environmental standards.
What Do You Need?
  • Relevant SVQ/NVQ qualification or industry experience in Mechanical Engineering, Pipefitting or Instrumentation.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and P&IDs.
  • Knowledge of process instrumentation, control systems and actuated valves.
  • Competent in using hand tools, tube benders, cutting equipment and measuring instruments.
  • Capable of self-checking work and to possess high personal standards with respect to Environment, Quality and Health & Safety.
  • Full UK Driving Licence
