Job summary

Ross-Shire Engineering Limited is seeking a Project Manager to join our Asset Operations and Maintenance division in West Thurrock on a full-time, permanent basis. You will lead multi-discipline projects across water, power and other sectors, coordinating design and construction with our in-house team.

You will manage client relationships, supervise trades and apprentices, ensure quality, safety and timely delivery, and contribute to tender and project planning.

Qualifications

  • Degree or HND/HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Proven track record in Project Management with an engineering or supervisory background.
  • Good time management and ability to multitask in a busy environment.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Responsibilities

  • Project liaison from enquiry to final acceptance, meeting clients as required.
  • Direct and allocate work to Trade Operatives & Apprentices with emphasis on quality, productivity and safety.
  • Ensure technical information is available for design/construction delivery; interpret drawings and specs.
  • Prepare final documentation (As Built Drawings) and manage design/construction coordination.
  • Identify and resolve non-conformances during design and construction phases.
  • Oversee design of systems ensuring alignment with specifications and technical aspects.
  • Prepare construction phase health and safety plans under CDM for Principal Contractor projects.
  • Input to tender, design, and construction programmes with progress updates and reporting.
  • Liaise with subcontractors, manage tenders, quotations and H&S documentation.

What Are We Looking For

Following continued success, our Asset Operations and Maintenance division is looking for Project Manager to join our team on a full time, permanent basis in West Thurrock. The Asset Operations and Maintenance team deliver small to medium multi-discipline projects on the repair, replacement, design and installation of equipment and plant systems for Utility services (Water and Power). The team additionally services clients within the Transport, Food & Beverage, and Oil & Gas industries throughout the UK.

This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious engineer who’s ready to take on new challenges, make a real impact, and accelerate their career. Supported by a highly experienced team, you’ll play a key role in delivering projects, building strong client relationships across our framework agreements, and helping shape innovative engineering solutions. You’ll also have direct access to our in-house design team, enabling real-time collaboration and technical expertise to deliver the best outcomes for our clients.

Some of your key duties include:
  • Project liaison from enquiry stage to final acceptance and documentation, meeting with Clients as required to discuss specific requirements and carry out site surveys as required.
  • Instructing, directing, controlling and allocating work to Trade Operatives & Apprentices, with attention to quality, productivity and safety.
  • Ensure all technical information is available when required for the delivery of design and/or construction.
  • Interpret and check drawings, specifications and schedules for all activities, directing works accordingly & prepare final documentation (As Built Drawings etc.).
  • Early Identification and resolution of non-conformance within both the design and construction phase
  • Manage the design of systems and products, ensuring alignment with design specifications and technical aspects.
  • Completion of contract documents
  • Management of Project Quality deliverables and procedures ensuring compliance with Internal and Client Quality Systems.
  • Input to Tender, design and construction programmes including progress updates and reporting.
  • Subcontractor liaison, management including tender specification, quotation and H&S documentation review and appraisal.
  • Preparation of Construction Phase Health and Safety Plans for projects with Principal Contractor responsibility under CDM.
What do you need?
  • Qualification to degree / HND/ HNC in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
  • Proven track record in Project Management, with an Engineering or Supervisory background.
  • Good time management, with the ability to multitask, plan and organise day to day workloads within a busy environment.
  • Good communication skills in both verbal and written communication and ability to follow, interpret and explain technical instructions.
  • Knowledge of the tools, equipment, and materials common to all engineering trades, particularly Mechanical and Electrical Engineering.
  • Driven, with an ability to work individually and with teams under your direction.
  • Innovative thinking, with and ability to learn, understand, and apply new technologies.
  • Ability to effectively prioritise and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
