Project Manager Job Overview
- Take overall responsibility for the successful delivery of major civil engineering projects
- Manage site teams, engineers, operatives and subcontractors
- Ensure works are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards
- Prepare and implement project management plans, method statements and risk assessments
- Develop, monitor and regularly update project programmes
- Understand tender allowances and monitor project performance against agreed budgets
- Work closely with the commercial team to manage project cost, risk and contractual change
- Manage NEC contracts, ensuring contractual requirements and timescales are achieved
- Coordinate design activities between clients, consultants and internal project teams
- Procure, assess and manage subcontractors throughout project delivery
- Manage temporary works requirements and coordinate with relevant engineering teams
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, stakeholders and the wider supply chain
- Lead project meetings and provide clear reporting on programme, cost, risk and delivery
- Mentor and develop junior project and site management staff
- Ensure compliance with company health, safety, environmental and quality procedures
Project Manager Job Requirements
- Previous Project Manager experience with a Tier 1 main Civil Engineering contractor
- Strong background delivering heavy civil engineering projects
- Proven experience delivering highways and structures schemes
- Experience managing major or technically complex infrastructure projects from mobilisation through to completion
- Strong knowledge of NEC contracts
- Experience managing project programmes, budgets, risk and contractual change
- Strong understanding of civil engineering construction methodologies
- Experience coordinating design and temporary works
- Proven ability to lead multidisciplinary site teams and subcontractors
- Strong client and stakeholder management skills
- Excellent leadership, communication and organisational ability
- CSCS, SMSTS, Temporary Works Coordinator qualification advantageous
- Degree / HNC / HND in Civil Engineering or a related discipline preferred
- ICE membership or working towards professional membership advantageous
- Full UK Driving Licence
