Job summary

WR Engineering is seeking a Project Manager – Fire & Mechanical Building Services (Contract) in the Manchester area. You will join an expanding team of PMs to oversee project planning, procurement, and cost control for HVAC and fire suppression systems across commercial, industrial, and data centre projects.

The role requires HNC qualifications in Building Services or Mechanical Engineering, proven project management experience in M&E, and AutoCAD proficiency. Inside IR35 is assumed.

Qualifications

• Experience in project management within building services (fire & mechanical).
• Ability to interpret design drawings and coordinate with clients and contractors.
• Strong planning, cost control, and progress reporting skills.

Responsibilities

• Organise planning and programming of the project.
• Carry out contract reviews – technical and commercial.
• Procure capital equipment and plan procurement.
• Control costs and manage interim/final accounts.
• Prepare procurement plans and arrange purchases.
• Manage RFIs, variations, delays, and monthly claims.

Project Manager – Fire & Mechanical Building Services (Contract)

£38ph - £45ph + holiday pay

My client is an established global manufacturer of HVAC & Fire Suppression installations, supplying throughout EMEA from their UK site. The company has many interesting projects in the pipeline, including commercial, industrial, and data centre projects, and is recruiting to meet customer demand.

The Role

You will join an expanding team of existing PMs.

• Project Management and Project Engineering – organise planning/programming of the project
• Carry out contract review – technical and commercials
• Project planning and capital equipment procurement
• Cost control and interim/final accounts
• Prepare procurement plan & arrange the purchase of goods
• Project control including RFIs, Variations, Delays, Preparation of O&M manuals, raising monthly claims/invoices
• Attend design meetings with clients and carry out a site survey
• Design risk assessment and produce RAMS

You

• HNC in Building Services Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
• Experienced Building Services Engineer
• AutoCAD experience
• Likely to have worked in an M&E Contractor or Building Services Consultancy
• Knowledge of mechanical commercial building services i.e. pipework, HVAC plant is a distinct advantage
• Must be inside IR35

Rate

£38ph - £45ph + holiday pay

Hours: 38 hours per week, flexible working with lunchtime finish Fridays.
