Job summary

Amentum is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead delivery across the engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning lifecycle for the HPC contract or work packages in the UK. The PM will ensure safe, on-time, on-budget delivery while meeting quality standards and programme milestones.

You will work under a Senior Project Manager, coordinating multi-disciplinary teams and interfacing with contractors, consultants, and regulators in a demanding environment.

Qualifications

• Degree in engineering or related field; desirable but not essential.
• APM PPQ or equivalent qualification is desirable but not essential.
• Experience managing complex nuclear EPCM projects and multi-stakeholder environments.
• Knowledge of CDM Regulations and safety-focused project delivery.
• Experience with NEC and FIDIC contract arrangements and commercial control.

Hinkley Point C (HPC) is the first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years, HPCs two EPR reactors will be capable of generating 3.26GW of secure, low carbon electricity for 60 years, enough electricity to power around 6 million homes. Amentum are currently looking to recruit an experienced Project Manager (PM) who has the responsibility to ensure delivery of all (or part of) the engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction, and commissioning activities for the life cycle of the contract or work package in accordance with the overall Project schedule. The PM will ensure planning and delivery is in accordance with all safety, quality, time, and cost parameters to meet the needs of the Project. The PM reports directly to a Senior Project Manager and is responsible for the direction of activities associated with the full life cycle delivery of a contract or work package assigned to them.

Key responsibilities will be:

• Assist in securing the required resources to meet their project requirements, ensuring the maintenance of SQEP for any assigned resource and promptly identifying any personnel shortfalls or issues within their project team
• Assist the Senior Project Manager to develop and implement strategies and plans in line with the overall programme execution plan (PEP), setting out how the programme of work will be managed, organised, and executed
• Maintain effective communications with all stakeholders and executing the project or PEP strategies within their contract or package of work
• Assist the Senior Project Manager to drive the delivery of the contract or package activities to ensure they are delivered safely on time, to budget, meeting business & technical requirements. Monitor and manage the progress of the programme - track progress against milestones, deadlines, budget and provide key stakeholders with reports on these matter
• Anticipate, manage, and resolve issues within the contact or package. Identify risks and facilitate the resolution of all issues raised, develop, and update the programme budget, and elevate any issues to the Senior Project Manager
• Work with the Senior Project Manager to ensure schedules are developed and maintained for the contract or package of work. Ensure such schedules are consistent with overall Project schedules and elevate any discrepancies
• Ensure that lessons-learnt and knowledge-capture are practiced as business as usual.
• Interface with other programmes to ensure a high-level view of how the total project is progressing and to identify and adopt the use of best practice
• Ensure that contract or package contractual requirements are fulfilled and elevate where necessary to the Senior Project Manager

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

• A Degree or similar qualification in engineering, construction or related field is desirable but not essential
• Professional Qualification in Project Management such as APM PPQ or other recognised qualification is desirable but not essential
• Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of Leadership and its application in complex projects
• Working knowledge of CDM Regulations
• Proficient application of estimating, scheduling, programming, risk, and Earned Value Management tools
• Understanding the needs of nuclear quality and how nuclear quality is assured and controlled
• Management of commercial claims and associated negotiation experience in Control of costs, risk, schedule, and change. Procurement and management of complex contracts. Working knowledge and management experience of construction activities. Multi-discipline EPCM Projects. Engineering design, contract, and field execution strategies for project delivery. Demonstrated project management experience in: Successful experience in engaging multi-level stakeholders including contractors, consultants, and advisors in a regulated environment
• Experience operating within NEC and FIDIC commercial arrangements
