Job summary

JC Virtual PMs is recruiting a capable Project Manager to deliver construction and refurbishment projects from inception to handover. You will run day-to-day management remotely, with occasional site visits, reporting to a Senior Project Manager and acting as the client’s main contact on your projects.

About JC Virtual PMs

JC Virtual PMs (JC.VPMS LTD) is a UK-based virtual consultancy delivering project management, design management, BIM, information management and document control. We work with SMEs and other clients across the UK, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia, bringing joined-up project, design and information management to projects that need more than a freelancer but less than a large consultancy. We are remote-first and growing.

About the role

You will manage the delivery of construction and refurbishment projects for our clients, typically up to £10m, taking day-to-day responsibility for programme, cost, quality and risk. Working remotely with occasional site visits, you will report to a Senior Project Manager and be the client's main point of contact on your projects.

This is our core delivery role: you run your own projects end to end, with support from senior colleagues when you need it. The step up to Senior Project Manager comes with larger projects (up to £25m) and mentoring others.

Key responsibilities

• Manage projects through the RIBA stages from brief to handover
• Prepare and maintain Project Execution Plans, programmes, risk registers and progress reports
• Chair design team and contractor progress meetings and track actions to close
• Coordinate consultants, contractors and client stakeholders
• Administer procurement and contracts (JCT, NEC), including change and early warnings
• Monitor budgets and report cost and programme variances in our project controls platform
• Make sure CDM 2015 duties are understood and met across the team

What we're looking for

Essential

• Around 5 years' construction project management experience in consultancy or client-side roles
• Working knowledge of the RIBA Plan of Work and CDM 2015
• Experience administering JCT or NEC contracts
• Clear communication with clients, consultants and contractors
• Right to work in the country where you will be based

Desirable

• APM PMQ, MRICS or MCIOB (or working towards)
• Confident with MS Project, Asta Powerproject or Primavera P6
• Awareness of ISO 19650 and the Building Safety Act 2022
• Experience of international projects

• We work in Microsoft 365 (Teams, SharePoint and Outlook) and our own project controls and HR platforms for timesheets, reporting, leave and expenses.
• This role is open on an employed basis (full-time or part-time) or, for experienced candidates, as an associate on a day rate.
• We resource against confirmed client commissions, so start dates follow project mobilisation. We will be open about timing from our first conversation.
