Job summary

JC Virtual PMs is a UK-based virtual consultancy delivering project management, design management, BIM, information management and document control. We are remote-first and growing, working with SMEs across the UK and internationally.

The role leads design coordination across projects, ensuring buildable, compliant information on time. You’ll collaborate with architects, engineers and contractors and report to the Project Manager.

Qualifications

• Around 5 years' design management experience in construction or consultancy.
• Strong understanding of RIBA Plan of Work and Building Regulations.
• Comfortable challenging design teams constructively.
• Right to work in the country where you will be based.
• Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management or similar (Desirable).
• Familiarity with BIM workflows and ISO 19650 principles (Desirable).
• Awareness of CDM 2015 designer duties and the Building Safety Act 2022 (Desirable).

Responsibilities

• Manage the design programme aligned to RIBA Stages 2–4.
• Develop and maintain Design Responsibility Matrices and Information Required Schedules.
• Chair design coordination meetings and track design risk.
• Review design deliverables for compliance with the Employer’s Requirements.
• Coordinate interfaces between architectural, structural, MEP and specialist packages.
• Support contractor onboarding and design queries through construction.

About JC Virtual PMs

JC Virtual PMs (JC.VPMS LTD) is a UK-based virtual consultancy delivering project management, design management, BIM, information management and document control. We work with SMEs and other clients across the UK, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia, bringing joined-up project, design and information management to projects that need more than a freelancer but less than a large consultancy. We are remote-first and growing.

About the role

You will lead design coordination across our projects, ensuring the design team delivers a buildable, compliant and coordinated information set on time. You’ll work closely with architects, engineers and specialist contractors, and report directly to the Project Manager and Client on your projects. Within our team you report to a Senior Design Manager.

This is our core design management role. The step up to Senior Design Manager comes with more complex projects, wider stage coverage and mentoring others.

• Remote-first: you work from your home base, with occasional client meetings or site visits when a project needs them.
• Our clients and teams span the UK, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia, so we agree working hours that overlap with each project's time zones.
• We work in Microsoft 365 (Teams, SharePoint and Outlook) and our own project controls and HR platforms for timesheets, reporting, leave and expenses.
• This role is open on an employed basis (full-time or part-time) or, for experienced candidates, as an associate on a day rate.
• We resource against confirmed client commissions, so start dates follow project mobilisation. We will be open about timing from our first conversation.
