Job summary

JC Virtual PMs, a UK-based virtual consultancy, seeks an experienced project controls professional to own commissions, cost tracking and earned-value reporting. You will run the project controls platform alongside client systems and shape how reporting is delivered, reporting to the Associate Director – Planning & Project Controls.

Qualifications

• Around 4 years' planning or project controls experience on construction or infrastructure projects.
• Working knowledge of earned value management and cost control.
• Experience producing monthly client reports with clear variance commentary.
• Right to work in the country where you will be based.

Responsibilities

• Build, baseline and maintain project programmes, including critical path and float analysis.
• Set up cost breakdown structures, budgets and cost-loaded programmes.
• Produce monthly progress, cost and earned value (EVM) reports, with clear commentary on variances.
• Prepare and review estimates at completion (EAC) with the project manager.
• Maintain risk registers and support quantified schedule risk analysis.
• Track change, early warnings and compensation events alongside the commercial team (NEC, JCT).
• Keep project data accurate and auditable across our reporting tools.

About JC Virtual PMs

JC Virtual PMs (JC.VPMS LTD) is a UK-based virtual consultancy delivering project management, design management, BIM, information management and document control. We work with SMEs and other clients across the UK, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia, bringing joined-up project, design and information management to projects that need more than a freelancer but less than a large consultancy. We are remote-first and growing.

About the role

You will run project controls across our commissions: building and maintaining programmes, tracking cost and progress, and turning the numbers into clear monthly reports for clients and project managers. You will work in our own project controls platform alongside client systems, so you will help shape how we report as well as doing the reporting. You will report to the Associate Director – Planning & Project Controls.

This role combines planning and cost control, and sits between Planner and Senior Planner on our ladder. It suits an experienced controls professional who wants flexible, commission-based work.

Key responsibilities

What we're looking for

Essential

• Around 4 years' planning or project controls experience on construction or infrastructure projects
• Strong Primavera P6 or Asta Powerproject skills
• Working knowledge of earned value management and cost control
• Experience producing monthly client reports with clear variance commentary
• Right to work in the country where you will be based

Desirable

• Understanding of NEC or JCT change management
• MS Project; strong Excel skills; Power BI
• AACE, APM or PMI certification in planning or controls

• Remote-first: you work from your home base, with occasional client meetings or site visits when a project needs them.
• Our clients and teams span the UK, Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia, so we agree working hours that overlap with each project's time zones.
• We work in Microsoft 365 (Teams, SharePoint and Outlook) and our own project controls and HR platforms for timesheets, reporting, leave and expenses.
• This role is offered as an associate on a day rate, with flexible days that follow the work.
• We resource against confirmed client commissions, so start dates follow project mobilisation. We will be open about timing from our first conversation.
