Job summary

NES Fircroft is helping a specialist engineering business recruit an experienced Package Manager to lead a major data centre project in the UK. You will own mobilisation through to installation, commissioning and final handover, ensuring works are delivered on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards.

You will coordinate with clients, engineering teams, subcontractors and suppliers to drive delivery, manage programme milestones and procurement, and lead progress meetings

Qualifications

• Experience delivering complex construction, HVAC or MEP projects.
• Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical building services.
• Experience managing subcontractors, suppliers and site teams.
• Proven ability to manage programmes, budgets and milestones.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
• Knowledge of RAMS, safety standards and QA.

Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Package Manager to join a specialist engineering business, supporting the delivery of a major data centre project.

You will take ownership of project delivery from mobilisation through to installation, commissioning and final handover, ensuring works are completed safely, on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards.

Working closely with clients, engineering teams, subcontractors and suppliers, you will play a key role in coordinating site activities and driving the successful delivery of the project.

Key Responsibilities

• Take ownership of project planning, coordination and delivery from mobilisation through to completion.
• Manage project programmes, resources and milestones to ensure deadlines are achieved.
• Oversee HVAC and MEP installation activities, coordinating site teams and subcontractors.
• Coordinate procurement, materials and equipment in line with project requirements.
• Monitor project costs, variations and commercial performance.
• Work closely with design teams, consultants and contractors to resolve technical and delivery challenges.
• Lead progress meetings and report on programme, cost, quality and HSE performance.
• Ensure all works comply with technical specifications, drawings, RAMS and relevant safety standards.
• Oversee testing, commissioning, snagging and final client handover.
• Identify and mitigate project risks, delays and potential issues throughout delivery.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Package Manager or Project Manager with a proven track record of delivering complex construction, HVAC or MEP projects.

You will ideally have:

• A strong understanding of mechanical and electrical building services.
• Experience managing subcontractors, suppliers and multidisciplinary site teams.
• A proven ability to manage project programmes, budgets and delivery milestones.
• Experience overseeing installation, commissioning and project handover.
• Strong commercial awareness, including variations, procurement and cost control.
• The ability to interpret technical drawings and project specifications.
• Excellent communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
• A strong understanding of construction health and safety requirements.

Previous experience within data centres or other critical environments would be highly advantageous. However, candidates with transferable experience delivering complex HVAC or MEP projects in sectors such as pharmaceuticals, healthcare or industrial construction will also be considered. Relevant engineering, construction or project management qualifications, alongside appropriate site safety qualifications, would be beneficial.
