Job summary

Rider Levett Bucknall in Reading is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead delivery across higher education, residential, commercial and healthcare schemes in the Thames Valley region. You will drive projects from inception to post-completion, ensuring time, cost and quality targets are met while fostering strong client relationships.

The role offers hybrid working, APC development support, and a competitive salary package with opportunities for progression.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience delivering projects as lead Project Manager in a consultancy or client-side environment.
  • Strong understanding of building contracts, change control and fee proposals.
  • Chartered or equivalent professional qualification or actively working toward.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the successful delivery of multiple projects, securing repeat business.
  • Oversee contract administration and manage change control processes.
  • Support and mentor Project Management team members where applicable.
  • Assist in developing marketing material, bids, and capability statements.
  • Help build a pipeline of opportunities and respond to RFPs.
  • Ensure delivery aligns with value-for-money and company objectives.

Job description

We are currently recruiting a Senior Project Manager to join the team based in our Reading office. This is an exciting opportunity for a high calibre individual to join and strengthen our current team. Our wider team in the Thames Valley region work across many sectors including higher education, residential, commercial, healthcare and more. The opportunity presents an opportunity to work across various projects and client accounts in the UK while offering an excellent platform to progress, with a very supportive and robust career development structure.

Role Responsibilities
  • To lead and oversee the successful delivery of projects (in conjunction with the support Project Management partners) with a view to securing repeat business
  • Contract Administration (which requires a good understanding of building contracts)
  • Implementation and management of a change control process
  • To assist Associates in the management of the Project management team including line management duties where applicable
  • To support development of targeted marketing material, bid documents, capability statements and attend networking events
  • To assist the Project Management Partners in developing a pipeline of opportunities
  • To support in the development of fee proposals and responses to RFPs
  • To support business objectives of delivering value for money in all circumstances
  • To carry out assigned duties efficiently and in accordance with processes and procedures
  • Comply with established procurement/commercial/contractual strategies
  • Take personal responsibility for complying with Environmental, Health, Safety, Security and Quality Standards

The ideal candidate will demonstrate a positive proactive approach to the role, and will be committed to delivering customer service excellence, with good commercial results.

Experience
  • Technical Experience - Understands technical aspects of project delivery from inception to post-completion and is able to identify and promote solutions
  • Managerial Experience - Ability to manage a project from inception to post completion with senior management support, obtaining positive written client feedback
  • Proven experience in delivering projects as the lead Project Manager either as a consultant or client side
  • Experience managing projects across the design, tender and construction stages
  • Proven track record on leading construction projects as a consultant Project Manager to time, cost and quality, Construction Project Management degree or a similar construction related qualification with experience gained within a similar role
  • Chartered or equivalent professional qualification or currently working toward - we will provide all necessary support to help you achieve this
