Project Manager
Melksham (Hybrid, with UK-wide travel)
£50,000 – £55,000 + Car Allowance
This is your opportunity to take ownership of exciting, complex projects — either managing a large multi-site programme or several key client sites — and help shape the technical environments of tomorrow.
Role
You’ll be both the planner and the problem-solver — managing teams/sub-contractors, coordinating resources, ensuring safety compliance, and delivering excellence on time, on budget, and beyond expectations.
As a self-starter who enjoys working in a pro-active manner you will be able to communicate at all levels with clients, suppliers, and contractors.
Responsibilities
- To accept a project from purchase order stage, check and verify specification and create the scope document; requesting construction drawings to assist.
- Review Scope & Costs / site visit if required
- Request Asbestos survey and prepare any necessary building control applications and access to site ADV (if required)
- Create and issue Construction Phase Plan. Including creating the emergency plan, parts 1,2,3 and the emergency location map
- Preparation of site files (H&S documentation)
- Arrange all Pre-start meetings
- Contract administration, variation control (inc. communicating implications to cost and program)
- Project planning incl. Creating Programmes (MS project)
- Chairs programme / project meetings, prepare and present progress reports to clients and Directors
- Maintaining project plan, scheduling and checking of materials and labour to ensure uninterrupted work and good productivity, site liaison with the client, authorities and subcontractors as required.
- Organising all project resources, subcontracting labour and liaising with the Head Office admin function to ensure timely delivery of materials to site
- Create Procurement tracker and manage project costs, where necessary liaise with Operational Director to agree design changes and or cost variations, requesting Change request documentation if required
- Liaise with project manager and stakeholders
- Attend site meetings with Operational Directors / Client Management team and or their representatives, prepare minutes and action logs as necessary
- Track site progress against programmes and projects, proactively managing Programme and Project Management risks, reporting back to Operational Directors on regular basis
- Ensure quality is maintained on site and as per programme schedule
- Provide cover on-site, in a supervisory role when necessary
- Ensure documentation is maintained throughout project cycle, including archiving of relevant information to shared folders
- To ensure that projects are completed to Safety, Quality, Time and Cost measures ensuring that we always exceed our client’s expectations to realise repeat business opportunities
- To manage the successful construction and handover of mechanical and electrical projects along with associated building elements where applicable.
- Ensure that all snagging is completed within agreed timescale
- Ensure that all OM&M information is compiled and issued to relevant parties
Requirements and Skills
- Able to demonstrate strong supervisory and project management leadership skills in a previous role with a proven successful track record in project and programme delivery
- PC literate – MS Word, MS Excel (MS Project desirable)
- Good communicator – written, oral and numerate
- A qualification in Health and Safety site supervision and site experience, SMSTS qualification where appropriate
- To have successfully completed a First Aid course
- Able to solve problems creatively and prioritise workload

- Ability to meet tight deadlines
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of datacentre and/or telecoms Mechanical and Electrical systems derived through site experience or able to demonstrate extensive experience of building and/ or interiors contracting
Desirable but not essential experience / skills
- Qualified to HNC level or higher in an Electrical or Mechanical qualification
- IOSH, NEBOSH 18th Edition or City and Guilds test and inspection qualifications
- Experience of specification, design and estimation or electrical or mechanical systems
- Knowledge of fire or alarm systems
- HVAC qualification
What you can expect:
Due to the nature of work for some of the clients, there will be a requirement to undertake security clearances.
Our client works nationally, and the role may involve periods of staying away Monday to Friday, hotel accommodation & subsistence will be provided.
