Job summary

KONE is seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead projects from Slough/Heathrow with occasional Gatwick assignments, coordinating construction managers, subcontractors and on-site engineers. The role emphasizes leadership without direct line management, adherence to KONE methodologies, and maintaining a sharp focus on safety and delivery excellence across sites.

Qualifications

• Proven project management experience in lift/escalator projects or similar technical environments.
• Experience coordinating site teams, subcontractors and engineers to meet scope/budget/schedule.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management to balance customer needs and profitability.
• Ability to lead project teams without direct line management responsibility.
• Airport security clearance required; five-year background checks and support through the process.

Job description

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our team, based in Slough/Heathrow airport, with occasional responsibility for projects at Gatwick Airport. In this role, you will be accountable for managing project scope, schedules and budgets, while building strong relationships with customers and key stakeholders. You will coordinate the work of construction managers, subcontractors and on-site engineers to ensure projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on time and within budget. Although this role does not involve direct line management, you will play a key leadership role in coordinating project teams, driving progress and ensuring everyone works towards shared objectives. You will use approved KONE methodologies and tools, with a strong focus on customer satisfaction and profitability.

• Project delivery: Oversee and monitor project execution, ensuring delivery in line with agreed scope, schedules, budgets and quality standards.
• Customer relationship management: Act as the main point of contact for customers, maintaining proactive communication and addressing questions, concerns and changing requirements.
• Planning and budgeting: Review project proposals, establish work plans, define resource requirements and monitor project costs and progress.
• Stakeholder coordination: Coordinate construction managers, subcontractors, on-site engineers and internal KONE colleagues to ensure smooth project execution.
• Materials and logistics: Oversee the planning and coordination of material deliveries and storage at project sites.
• Risk and issue management: Identify potential delays, resource constraints and project risks, taking proactive action to keep projects on track.
• Project leadership: Provide direction and motivation to project stakeholders, encourage collaboration and drive accountability without direct line management responsibility.
• Customer satisfaction and profitability: Balance customer expectations with commercial objectives to deliver successful projects and positive business outcomes. Airport security clearance: The successful candidate will need to obtain the relevant airport security passes. This includes providing a five-year history for the required background and criminal record checks. KONE can support candidates through the clearance process.

• Proven experience in project management, ideally within the lift and escalator industry.
• Project management experience in engineering, construction or a similar technical environment will also be considered.
• Experience managing projects at site level, including scope, scheduling, budgets and resources.
• A strong understanding of construction site activities and the coordination of subcontractors and engineering teams.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with customers and internal teams.
• Strong planning, analytical and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and complex projects.
• A proactive, solutions-oriented approach, with the confidence to take ownership and resolve issues.
