Job summary

Contract Scotland is seeking an experienced Site Agent or Project Manager to deliver busy civil engineering projects in the energy sector across Central Scotland. This hands-on role calls for strong ownership of delivery, coordinating site teams, clients and commercial colleagues to keep work moving safely, on time and within budget.

You’ll manage programmes, costs and quality, implement health & safety plans, and produce progress reports while maintaining client relationships and supporting

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
  • Proven experience as Site Agent or Project Manager on civil engineering projects.
  • Strong IT skills: MS Access, Word, Excel, Project and Outlook.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Experience in power and energy-related civils projects would be highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Day-to-day management and successful delivery of civil construction projects, focusing on programme, cost, quality and health & safety.
  • Manage labour on site and ensure work is carried out safely, correctly and to specification.
  • Produce accurate daily reports and keep project records up to date.
  • Carry out weekly cost reconciliations for plant, labour and materials.
  • Administer health, safety and environmental plans and ensure compliance.
  • Assess scope of works prior to commencement and relay changes to the Quantity Surveyor.
  • Attend client meetings to monitor contract performance and support business development.
  • Represent the business at pre-start, progress and final account meetings.
  • Interrogate designs for buildability and support contractor design portions through to sign-off.
  • Ensure quality inspections are completed and project requirements are met.
  • Produce and maintain project programmes and progress reports.

Do you want to work on significant civil engineering projects in the energy sector whilst getting home every night?


If you’re fed up working away, or want to break into the massive pipeline of work that Scotland can offer in energy and renewables, but can’t work away due to your own circumstances, then this role will appeal to you.


We’re looking for an experienced Site Agent or Project Manager to join a busy civil engineering contractor delivering power and energy‑related civil engineering projects across Central Scotland.


This is a hands‑on role for someone who enjoys taking full ownership of delivery, keeping projects moving, and working closely with site teams, clients and commercial colleagues to make sure work is completed safely, on time, within budget and to the required standard.


You’ll be joining a highly successful contractor with a strong reputation for quality, collaboration and integrity, across decades in Scotland. There is a healthy pipeline of work, a supportive environment, and a real focus on development and doing things properly.


What you’ll be doing

You’ll be responsible for the day‑to‑day management and successful delivery of civil construction projects, with a focus on programme, cost, quality and health & safety.


Key duties will include:


  • Managing labour on site and ensuring work is carried out effectively, correctly and to specification.

  • Producing accurate daily reports and keeping project records up to date.

  • Carrying out weekly cost reconciliations for plant, labour and materials.

  • Managing the implementation of health, safety and environmental plans.

  • Assessing scope of works prior to commencement.

  • Identifying additional works and relaying this information to the Quantity Surveyor.

  • Attending client meetings as required to monitor contract performance and support business development.

  • Representing the business at pre‑start, progress, final account and internal handover/cost meetings.

  • Administering contracts to meet the requirements of statutory bodies such as SEPA, HSE, local authorities and service providers.

  • Interrogating designs for buildability and supporting contractor design portions through to sign‑off.

  • Ensuring quality inspections are completed and project requirements are met.

  • Producing and maintaining project programmes.

  • Preparing progress reports and chairing progress and technical meetings.


What we’re looking for


  • HNC/HND/Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related construction discipline.

  • Proven experience as a Site Agent or Project Manager.

  • Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Access, Word, Excel, Project and Outlook.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Experience in power and energy‑related civils projects would be highly desirable.
