Job summary

United Infrastructure is seeking a seasoned Project Manager with a strong civil engineering background to lead major water and wastewater projects. You will deliver projects end-to-end, ensuring safety, on-time performance, and budget control while upholding quality standards.

You will manage programmes, oversee costs and margins, mentor site teams, and coordinate with designers and supply chains. The role requires a proactive leader who communicates effectively with clients and stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Degree/HND/HNC in Civil Engineering or equivalent is required.
  • APM PMQ or equivalent project management qualification is required.
  • SMSTS (CITB) is required.
  • CSCS Manager Level is required.
  • CDM Awareness is required.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate and manage the delivery of up to £10million value projects.
  • Perform Principal Contractor responsibilities in line with CDM2015.
  • Implement mandatory Health, Safety and Environmental (HSQE) procedures.
  • Conduct health and safety site inspections and promote proactive safety culture.
  • Manage overall project programmes, ensuring timely and efficient delivery.
  • Oversee commercial aspects, budgeting, cost control and target margins.
  • Provide line management to Site Managers, Engineers and Site Foremen.
  • Co-ordinate and manage the supply chain partners, resolve issues and drive performance.
  • Act as the primary client contact, building relationships and providing progress updates.
  • Chair and lead project meetings, document discussions, actions and decisions.
  • Control change and manage client expectations.
  • Collaborate with designers on cost‑effective and buildable solutions.
  • Mentor and support the professional development of project teams.
  • Maintain mandatory method statements and risk assessments.
  • Plan and secure resources and materials meeting delivery schedules.

Role Overview

We are looking to recruit an experienced Project Manager with a strong civil engineering background to lead complex, multi‑disciplinary water and wastewater projects. The role requires end‑to‑end delivery of projects—ensuring they are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Essential Qualifications
  • Degree, HND or HNC in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Minimum 5 years experience as Project Manager in the water industry.
  • APM PMQ or equivalent project management qualification.
  • SMSTS (CITB).
  • CSCS Manager Level.
  • CDM Awareness.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts and commercial management.
Desirable Qualifications
  • NEBOSH or IOSH Managing Safely.
  • Temporary Works Coordinator certification.
  • Proficiency in MS Project or similar planning tools.
  • SEATS or Environmental Management training.
