Job summary

Edinburgh Leisure in Edinburgh is seeking a Project Manager to join our Facilities Management team. You will lead planned and reactive construction and maintenance projects across our estate, from feasibility to handover, ensuring safety, compliance and value for money.

The role requires a degree in Project Management or two years’ equivalent experience, plus a health and safety qualification and a UK driving licence for travel between venues.

Responsibilities

• Research and assess planned construction projects, defining scope, budget, timescale and next steps.
• Lead multi-disciplinary project teams to deliver projects from planning to handover.
• Manage reactive works: assess damage, define scope and costs, oversee repairs and liaise with insurers.
• Support asbestos management with surveys, reviews and action recommendations.
• Ensure compliance with CDM 2015, health and safety legislation, and statutory requirements.
• Maintain programmes, risk registers, budgets and financial forecasts.
• Collaborate with facility managers to prioritise and improve delivery.

We’re looking for a dynamic Project Manager to join our Facilities Management team.

You’ll lead planned and reactive construction and maintenance projects across our estate, taking them from feasibility to successful handover while ensuring safety, compliance, and value for money.

What You’ll Do:

• Research and assess planned construction projects, defining scope, operational impact, budget, timescale and next steps.
• Lead multi-disciplinary project teams to deliver construction projects from planning and procurement through to completion and handover.
• Manage reactive works by assessing damage, making sites safe, defining scope and costs, overseeing repairs, checking invoices and liaising with insurers.
• Support asbestos management across the estate by arranging surveys, reviewing findings, completing condition checks and recommending action where required.
• Ensure full compliance with CDM 2015, health and safety legislation, and all statutory requirements.
• Maintain project programmes, risk and product registers, planning and building warrant applications, budgets and accurate financial forecasts.
• Work closely with facility managers and other stakeholders to agree priorities and improve project delivery.

What You’ll Bring:

• A degree in Project Management or at least two years’ equivalent experience in project or construction management.
• A recognised health and safety qualification, with a good working knowledge of CDM 2015.
• Experience in project or construction management, including planning, budgeting and leading teams, contractors and suppliers through to successful delivery.
• Experience of procuring and managing contractors to achieve best value and meet contractual requirements.
• Strong analytical, decision-making and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues early and take practical action when priorities change.
• Excellent attention to detail, organisation and written communication skills, with the ability to manage competing projects and produce accurate records, reports and recommendations.
• Strong communication and relationship management skills, with the confidence to explain technical information clearly, lead meetings and work effectively with stakeholders, contractors and suppliers.
• Full UK driving licence, as regular travel between venues is required.

Desirable Qualifications:

Asbestos monitoring and awareness training, P405 Duty to Manage Asbestos, PRINCE2 Foundation and Practitioner, PASMA and IOSH Managing Safely.

Working Arrangements:

You’ll work Monday to Friday and be based at Carron Place, Leith. Regular travel to our venues is required for meetings, inspections and site reviews.
