Job summary

Venesky Brown is recruiting on behalf of a public sector client for a Project Manager in Scotland. The role is hybrid, with up to two days per week in the office, and a contract until 30 September 2027 at £500/day Inside IR35.

The ideal candidate will bring at least five years of PM experience delivering medium to high-risk projects, strong knowledge of PM processes, and a track record in public sector delivery, transformation, and TOM alignment.

Qualifications

• Minimum five years of project management experience delivering medium/high-risk projects.
• Expert knowledge of core PM processes and using tools/pragmatic approaches.
• Experience delivering business transformation programmes with process redesign and stakeholder adoption.
• Experience contributing to Blueprint/Target Operating Model (TOM).
• Experience in public sector environments including project assurance, procurement and supplier management.
• Experience scoping technology solutions and coordinating with cross-functional teams.
• Proficient in managing multidisciplinary project teams including PM resources.
• Proficient with project management tools and business applications such as Microsoft products.
• Ability to ensure data quality informs decision making.

Job description

Venesky-Brown’s client, a public sector organisation with offices in Edinburgh and Inverness, is currently looking to recruit a Project Manager for a contract until 30th September 2027 on a rate of £500/day (Inside IR35). This role will be hybrid based with the expectation of up to 2 days per week on average in the office.

• A strong track record (minimum five years) of managing and delivering medium and high-risk projects at pace, with an ability to adapt to inevitable change.


• Expert knowledge of the various project management and project delivery core processes and disciplines, using the right tools/approach at the right time in a proportionate and pragmatic manner.


• Proven experience delivering business transformation programmes involving business process redesign, operating model development, stakeholder adoption and technology enablement.


• Experience of contributing to, refining and maintaining the different perspectives of a Blueprint or Target Operating Model (TOM).


• Experience working within public sector environments, including project assurance, procurement and supplier management.


• Experience of scoping technology solutions.


• Proficient at managing a multidisciplinary project team, including project support and business analysis resources.


• Proficient in the use of project management tools and business tools (such as Microsoft applications).


• Competent in ensuring data of sufficient quality is appropriately used through analysis and evaluation to inform decisions.


• A recognised Project or Programme Management qualification (e.g., PRINCE2, APM PMQ/PPQ, MSP).


• Experience of working in a similar environment.


• Understanding of solutions to enable the coordination of casework, major projects and associated financial income.


• Understanding of service design, customer centric design and value stream modelling concepts.


• Working knowledge of public sector project assurance regimes (e.g., Gateway Reviews).
