Job summary

Carrington West is seeking an experienced Freelance Project Manager to oversee a portfolio of SDF works projects in the Cambridge area. You will manage 4–5 live schemes concurrently, ensuring delivery, safety and stakeholder coordination across a demanding highway infrastructure environment.

The role offers a flexible hybrid working arrangement with remote work one day per week, plus access to a long-term secured pipeline of work and a rolling 6-month contract.

Qualifications

• Proven experience delivering SDF works on infrastructure schemes.
• Valid CSCS Black Card and SMSTS certification.
• National Highways Passport and Safety Critical Medical required.
• Strong programme management skills on highways/civil projects.
• Experience coordinating stakeholders across multi-site schemes.

Responsibilities

Rate: £600 per day Inside IR35

Are you an experienced Project Manager with SDF works expertise looking for a long-term freelance opportunity in the East of England? We are seeking a highly experienced Freelance Project Manager to oversee a portfolio of SDF works projects across the Cambridge region. This is an excellent opportunity for a proven PM with National Highways experience who enjoys managing multiple schemes while benefiting from genuine flexibility and long-term contract security.

Working with a leading infrastructure team, you'll be responsible for delivering 4-5 live projects simultaneously. While these schemes are typically valued in the hundreds of thousands, they require strong programme management, stakeholder coordination, and a proactive approach to health, safety, and delivery.

The role offers a flexible working arrangement, including working from home 1 day per week as well as at a variety of different offices based on location. Contracts are offered on a rolling 6-month basis, with work already secured through to at least Christmas and likely beyond.
