Job summary

SSE plc invites you to join their Project Management Summer Placement Programme. Commencing June 2027, it offers a full-time, Flexible First pattern with base locations including Aberdeen, Inverness, Lewis, Netherton/Peterhead, Orkney/Shetland/Western Isles or Wick.

You will be in at least the second year of your undergraduate degree and may be a Master’s student in your penultimate year planning to return after the placement.

Qualifications

• Currently in at least the second year of an undergraduate degree.
• Master’s students should be in penultimate year and plan to return after the placement.
• Disciplines include Project Management, Construction Management, Civil, Business & Project Management, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.

Responsibilities

• Develop professional project management expertise during the placement.
• Contribute to delivering major infrastructure and project outcomes across SSE.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to learn best practices.

What is the role?

At SSE, project management plays a vital role in delivering major infrastructure investments, capital projects and operational improvements across our business helping deliver large-scale transmission projects, our project teams work with a wide range of stakeholders to turn ambitious plans into successful outcomes.

Our Project Management Summer Placement Programme is designed for individuals who want to develop professional project management expertise while making a real impact from day one.

What we're looking for

You'll be in at least second year of your undergraduate degree. If studying a Master’s you should be in your penultimate year and intending to return to university following the completion of your placement. The disciplines are:

• Project Management, Construction Management, Civil, Business & Project Management, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering,

You’ll likely be someone who:

• Enjoys planning, organising and coordinating activities to deliver successful outcomes.
• Has a genuine interest in project delivery, infrastructure, construction, asset management or business improvement.
• Is curious, adaptable and motivated to learn, develop new skills and take on new challenges.
• Works well with others, building positive relationships and bringing different perspectives together to achieve shared goals.
• Takes ownership, uses initiative and wants to make a meaningful contribution from day one.
