Job summary

SSE plc invites applicants to its Project Management Summer Placement Programme, starting June 2027, across Aberdeen, Inverness, Lewis, and other locations. The role provides hands-on experience delivering major infrastructure projects and exposure to asset management and stakeholder engagement within SSE's project teams.

You're in at least your second year of study (penultimate year for masters) in disciplines such as Project Management, Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.

Qualifications

• You’ll be in at least second year of your undergraduate degree. If studying a Master’s you should be in your penultimate year and intending to return to university following the completion of your placement.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and coordinating activities to deliver successful project outcomes.
• Support delivery of major infrastructure investments and asset management initiatives.
• Engage with stakeholders and work within project teams to gain practical experience.

Salary: £26,239 per annum + a range of benefits to support your finances, wellbeing and family

What is the role?

At SSE, project management plays a vital role in delivering major infrastructure investments, capital projects and operational improvements across our business helping deliver large-scale transmission projects, our project teams work with a wide range of stakeholders to turn ambitious plans into successful outcomes.

Our Project Management Summer Placement Programme is designed for individuals who want to develop professional project management expertise while making a real impact from day one.

What we're looking for

You’ll be in at least second year of your undergraduate degree. If studying a Master’s you should be in your penultimate year and intending to return to university following the completion of your placement. The disciplines are:

• Project Management, Construction Management, Civil, Business & Project Management, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering,

You'll likely be someone who:

• Enjoys planning, organising and coordinating activities to deliver successful outcomes.
• Has a genuine interest in project delivery, infrastructure, construction, asset management or business improvement.
• Is curious, adaptable and motivated to learn, develop new skills and take on new challenges.

• Takes ownership, uses initiative and wants to make a meaningful contribution from day one.
