Job summary

Protec Group, based at the Head Office in Nelson, is seeking a proactive Project Lead – Insourcing & Industrialisation to drive complex product transfer and manufacturing insourcing projects.

You will lead line ramp-ups, ensure industrialisation of new and relocated production lines for electronic products, apply Lean principles, and manage a small engineering team while coordinating with QA, logistics, purchasing and Bosch networks.

Qualifications

• University degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or related).

Job description

As we continue to expand and optimize our operations, we are looking for a proactive and experienced Project Lead – Insourcing & Industrialisation to join our production facility at our Head Office in Nelson.In this role, you will be responsible for leading and successfully executing complex product transfer and manufacturing insourcing projects. You will drive manufacturing line ramp-ups, ensure seamless industrialisation of new and relocated production lines for electronic products and implement lean manufacturing standards. Acting as a key bridge, you will manage vital stakeholder interfaces and lead a small, dedicated engineering team to achieve project success.

• Plan, coordinate, and execute product transfer, industrialization, and production insourcing projects from initial feasibility to full-volume production.
• Plan and oversee manufacturing line ramp-ups, including optimization of assembly layouts and equipment integration.
• Apply Lean Production principles (such as 5S, lean line design, and waste reduction) to establish highly efficient and standardized manufacturing workflows.
• Manage and facilitate communication across critical functional interfaces, collaborating closely with Quality Management Manufacturing (QMM), Logistics (LOG), Purchasing (PUR), and regional engineering teams.
• Serve as the core connection point for collaborative industrialization activities between Protec and the broader Bosch manufacturing network.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a small, agile team of industrialization/transfer engineers and technicians.
• Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in strict alignment with Protec and Bosch Quality Gates.
