THE OPPORTUNITY:

We are looking for a Project Engineer / Technologist / Technician II to join our diverse team of professionals in our office on a full-time basis. Our preferred candidate possesses experience as a key contributor in planning, designing, and managing projects from inception to execution. The role requires strong collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to ensure project success.

WHAT YOU WILL DO:

1. Plan and manage engineering projects including project scope, objectives, schedules, cost estimates, budgets, contracts, etc. while maintaining effective client relationships.
2. Participate in and contribute to studies, assessments, modeling, preliminary and detailed design, specifications, contract documents, tendering and contract administration.
3. Provide technical insight and oversight in various construction engineering activities such as in roadworks, storm sewers, sanitary sewers, watermains, street lighting, ESC, site grading, and stormwater management.
4. Perform or oversee field reviews in accordance with the standards of quality management procedure and competence.
5. Prepare various project documentation including memos, proposals, reports with speed and accuracy while ensuring adherence to project specifications, quality standards and project constraints.
6. Utilize negotiation strategies and client advocacy skills such as in fees, deadlines, contracts, etc. with both internal and external stakeholders in all levels to optimize excellent project outcomes.
7. Liaise with and manage expectations of clients, colleagues, consultants, regulatory agencies, utility companies and contractors.
8. Prepare monthly invoicing, fee requests and other project-related reports that are consistent with project budgets and requirements.
9. Promote collaboration and teamwork and provides mentorship and training to more junior staff.

WHAT YOU WILL BRING:

1. A degree or diploma in civil engineering from an accredited post-secondary institution with a minimum of 3 years of experience.
2. Designation either as an EIT, AScT, CTech, or P.Eng. in good standing.
3. Experience in the design and management of municipal infrastructure and land development projects in the Lower Mainland.
4. Strong working knowledge of construction standards, requirements for permits, local municipal approval processes.
5. Ability to operate within internal budgets for at least 80% of all projects.
6. Ability to work under pressure and handle competing deadlines while effectively managing relationships with external and internal stakeholders.
7. Ability to think quickly and promptly solve conflicts if they arise during construction.
8. Analytical and detail-oriented skills are critical, along with exceptional time management and problem-solving skills.
9. Strong interpersonal skills along with excellent skills in presentation, negotiation, collaboration, and communication--both oral and written and ability to represent the company.
10. Valid Driver’s License and ability to travel to and inspect project and construction sites.
11. Proficiency in AutoCAD and Civil3D, an asset.
