Job summary

SSE Smart Buildings is seeking a Smart Buildings Project Engineer to join our BMS projects team in the North West region. You will manage the delivery of BMS projects from planning through handover, ensuring safety, on-time completion and budget adherence, while coordinating with clients and internal teams.

You will commission BMS hardware and software, perform testing and optimisation, and resolve technical issues to achieve client satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Experience with Siemens, Trend, Distech or Tridium BEMS/HVAC controls.
• Excellent communication with stakeholders.
• Strong customer service mindset and ability to provide technical support.
• Agile working approach with on-call flexibility.
• Full driving licence for site travel.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of small to medium BMS projects from planning to handover, ensuring safety, on-time delivery and budget adherence.
• Coordinate activities with clients, subcontractors and internal teams across programme, resources and procurement.
• Carry out commissioning of BMS hardware/software including testing, graphics and optimisation to meet specifications.
• Identify and resolve technical/project issues while maintaining quality and client satisfaction.
• Produce and maintain project documentation including progress reports and handover materials.

The role

As part of our growth plans, we are looking for a Smart Buildings Project Engineer to join our BMS projects team. We are looking for exceptional people who can bring big ideas, new skills and innovative thinking to help us build a world that's more sustainable for you, your family and the community you live in.

Our Support business has a fantastic reputation in the industry and has some exciting plans to grow and develop the region further, which you can play a key part in.

You will

• Manage the delivery of small to medium-sized BMS projects from initial planning through to final handover, ensuring works are completed safely, on time, and within budget.
• Coordinate project activities with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams, managing programme, resources, procurement, and site progress throughout the project lifecycle.
• Carry out the commissioning of BMS hardware and software, including point-to-point testing, functional testing, graphics, and optimisation to ensure systems perform to specification.
• Identify and resolve technical and project-related issues, implementing effective solutions while maintaining quality standards and client satisfaction.
• Produce and maintain accurate project documentation, including progress reports, commissioning records, as-fitted information, and handover documentation to support successful project completion.

You have

• Good technical experience in Siemens, Trend, Distech or Tridium BEMS/HVAC Building Controls.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to maintain a collaborative working environment with all stakeholders, including customers and external service providers.
• Sound levels of customer service, with a professional approach and a dedication to meeting customer expectations, including delivering technical support, coaching and direction.
• An agile working approach, with flexibility to support an on-call rota structure.
• A full driving licence, as you will be travelling to different sites.
