Job summary

Honeywell Aerospace in Yeovil is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to drive performance across Environmental Control Systems, Hydraulics and Life Support projects. You will assess and steer program achievements within a cross-functional team, coordinating design reviews and managing risks to ensure milestones are met.

The role requires an engineering degree with aerospace knowledge, strong communication and experience with project lifecycle management.

Qualifications

  • Relevant engineering degree or higher with aerospace relevance.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Experience in a project engineering environment across product lifecycle.
  • Proficiency with project forecasting tools such as MS Project.
  • Experience working with suppliers and integrated supply chains.

Responsibilities

  • Create project plans, schedules and milestones to customer expectations using earned value metrics.
  • Monitor plans and ensure milestone adherence for timely delivery.
  • Develop and track work packages for internal suppliers to support tech and schedule.
  • Build internal and external customer relationships to ensure completion.
  • Ensure projects stay within cost, quality and time targets.
  • Manage requirements and perform validation and allocation.
  • Coordinate and lead design reviews per procedures.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks.

Control Systems develops the thermal and motion control systems that help aircraft take off, land safely and protect the people on board. What are we looking for?

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced, and motivated individual to join our site in Yeovil as an Project Engineer. You will be part of a team assessing and driving achievement of program specific performance within Honeywell Aerospace. You will be working on complex aerospace engineering projects across a variety of remits including Environmental Control Systems (ECS), Hydraulics, and Life Support Systems (LSS).

Key Responsibilities
  • Create project plans, schedules, and determine milestones to customer expectations using earned value metrics
  • Monitor and maintain project plans, ensure focus is maintained to milestone adherence to ensure products are delivered on time
  • Create and monitor the progress of work packages for internal suppliers to support technical and schedule adherence.
  • Build internal and external customer relationships throughout projects to ensure completion
  • Ensuring that projects run within cost, quality, and time metrics
  • Management of requirements, including requirements validation and the appropriate allocation of requirements
  • Co‑ordinate and Lead Design Reviews in accordance with HAY procedures
  • Manage project risks and mitigation plans.
Key requirements and skills
  • HND/HNC/Degree in mechanical engineering/aerospace
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Previous experience of working within a project engineering environment, and an understanding of the engineering lifecycle of a product from conception to commissioning
  • Previous experience of using Microsoft Project, or a similar project forecasting system
  • A strong understanding and experience of working with suppliers and integrated supply chains and how and where they fit in the project lifecycle
