Job summary

YTL UK is seeking a Project Engineer in Poole to manage reactive and planned capital maintenance across water-related sites, delivering and commissioning projects from planning through payments and closeout.

You will work with contractors and the internal team, driving budgets, tenders, and schedules while ensuring safety, compliance with CDM 2015, and alignment with company policies. A professional engineering registration and a safety-first mindset are essential.

Job description

Would you enjoy working as part of a multidisciplinary project delivery scheme team? If so, we have an exciting opportunity to join our small schemes team based in Pooleas a Project Engineer.

What you'll do

As a Project Engineer, you will be responsible for both reactive and planned capital maintenance projects across a diverse range of sites, including water recycling, water production, sewerage and water distribution.

The value of projects varies between around £15,000 and £250,000. You will be working across the Wessex Water region, mainly covering the Poole area.

Projects can include planned pumping station upgrades, the design and installation of inlet screen replacements, emergency wastewater treatment side streams, and clean water treatment process upgrades.

Your role will involve:

  • optioneering, contracts, tendering, spend forecasting, project delivery, commissioning, authoring payments and project closeouts
  • working closely with our contractors and supply chain
  • ensuring that all health and safety and other statutory regulations that may affect the construction process are adhered to
  • ensuring the delivery process accords with our policies
  • ensuring company and departmental targets are met
  • assisting in the establishment of budgets and approvals.
Whatyou'll need

Ideally, you will be from a engineering/construction and/or water industry background with experience in project management and working closely with external contractors.

It is essential that you have a safety-first approach and good negotiation and influencing skills.

In addition, you will need to:

  • have a positive and "can-do" attitude
  • be well-organised, customer-focused and a great team player
  • hold a formal qualification in project management
  • hold a technical level 4 (HNC) qualification in an engineering discipline
  • be a professionally registered engineer (EngTech/IEng) or working towards this - support can be given on professional registration
  • have a working knowledge of CDM 2015
  • have a valid driving licence (a company car will be provided if you are not able to use your own vehicle).
